line break and excellent typo had me scratching my head to work out what on earth a "panch romantic" film stock might be (I got it in the end!)
Gotta say the BBC radio 4 today description of Trumpβs State of the Union as some sort of mild mannered, well orchestrated speech doesnβt tally at all with the clips Iβve watched
Listening to Sarah Smith talking so effusively about Trumpβs speech canβt help thinking about *that* lawsuitβ¦.
RIP the indomitable Γliane Radigue; a long and very rich life. I was very lucky to work with her; visiting her Paris apartment on Rue Liancourt was special. She lived there for decades, literally just around the block from AgnΓ¨s Varda. Now there's a collaboration I would have loved to see happen.
less than a week until the return of Soundhunt in our new home - @cambridgejunction.bsky.social ! music starts at 2pm on Sunday afternoon with a terrific line-up including legendary drummer Eddie PrΓ©vost www.junction.co.uk/events/sound...

My latest book is now in paperback! Still expensive but not quite as horrendous & the code SNPS26 will give 30% off. Tis an academic book but I tried to write it to be more widely accessible. Stuff on Kelly Reichardt, PT Anderson, Tarkovsky, Alien, Herzog, Kubrick, etc. sunypress.edu/Books/H/Haun...

looking forward to a little German jaunt in April with Alex Ward and Mark Sanders www.club-manufaktur.de/event/hazard... (we sound something like this: shrikerecords.bandcamp.com/album/hazard...)
how about starting the new year with a bit of solo double bass from the end of last year... www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5-Y...
very nice to end the year with a publication! I'm very pleased that my article on rhythmic phrasing in narrative film has just appeared in the latest issue of Screen academic.oup.com/screen/artic...
By my count, and based on the information provided in the magazine itself, 15 of them haven't opened yet and a further 9 are "awaiting" release, which presumably means there's a possibility it'll never happen...
I said the same last year, but as interesting as the @sightsoundmag.bsky.social films of the year list is (and it is!), putting "How Many Have You Seen?" on the cover is just silly when almost half of the 50 films aren't available to UK audiences
this very evening in Bristol! cubecinema.com/programme/ev...
if you fancy hearing some solo improvised double bass this evening, I've got a recommendation for you www.boat-ting.co.uk
video of Evan Parker playing solo in Cambridge a couple of weeks ago at the gig that Soundhunt (that's N.O. Moore and me) organized as part of the Cambridge Jazz Festival - thanks to the ARU students who did the filming and everyone else who made it possible youtu.be/K0ZWAoFscaU
