Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. Itβs always a matter of will not resources.

It feels like every month Iβm asking for help but one of my dogs got into a fight with another dog and tore up her ear and I need help paying the vet bill. Can you please donate and/or share?

It's -20 in Minneapolis and organizers are in the streets before dawn getting ready for actions related to the general strike. They've had locals training out-of-town volunteers on how to prepare for and endure the cold. AND IT IS WORKING. THE STRIKE IS HAPPENING. THE CITY IS DOING THE DAMN THING...
Thanks to some amazing people I only need $10 more dollars. Please donate and/or share if you can! #mutualaid

This is so real, they tried it this morning in Bloomington. They stopped a man, people started honking horns, they split up to fuck with everyone else, which brought more attention and more noise, people got out of their cars and started filming, they left. They're cowards.

All of these hints and contrasts should give the listener a good idea of the beginning of Alex's and Kingsley's arcs before even listening to the first episode.
he holds in his hand suggests an unexpected softness and embracing of life. Alex is a regular, nerdy looking human. They wouldn't threaten anyone and yet they are the one chain smoking. Alex's violence is self-violence; a potential act of drawn out suicide.
Additionally, Alex's side is full of technology: the lamp and the typewriter. Whereas Kingsley is "returning" to nature to soften his image, Alex embraces technology and the "modern" in his responsibility as a reporter. Kingsley's scar and prison uniform suggest a life of violence while the tulip
they and Kingsley type on. Death of Dolores who is mounted on Alex's wall. The mounting of a deer head should be a triumphant object, a boasting of one's hunting prowess, but that is not the connection Alex makes in episode 1.
The cigarette tray is a reference to Alex's promise to their wife to quit smoking.Β
Unlike Kingsley's side, there is no living thing on Alex's side except Alex themselves. Instead, the side is crammed with references to death: death of the trees to make Alex's desk and chair and to make the paper
on the left side of Alex. A pile of papers & a white cigarette tray crammed w/ cigarettes sit on Alex's right. The papers are referenced in episode 1. They are the typed out pages of chapters from Kingsley's memoir - the very memoir Alex is editing and publishing in exchange for information.
The deer is named Dolores and the typewriter is named Archie - both referenced in episode 1. Alex is sitting on a wooden chair and is dressed in a soft, purple button down shirt, a green vest, and brown slacks. A cigarette hangs from their lips. A blue cup of steaming tea and a green glass lamp sit
It, hopefully, causes the listeners to question how they're being manipulated to see Kingsley and his actions.Β
Alex's References
On Alex's side, there is a deer head mounted on a wooden board overlooking Alex as they type on their typewriter.
his scar, & his prison uniform. Being an anthro crocodile, Kingsley is intimidating enough. I like softening his appearance w/pastel pinks, blues, and whites. It adds a funny sense of innocence to an untrustworthy & violent character.
for war crimes. A scar runs through his eye facing us and cuts across his snout. You can learn more about that scar by listening to episode 17.
Kingsley's side is soft with pinks and whites and blues and full of plant-life. A purposeful sharp contrast to Kingsley's scaly, reptilian appearance,
In Fringe, the white tulip represents redemption, grief, and hope. I challenge my listeners to assign their own meaning to the white tulip that appears in this cover and throughout this podcast.Β
Kingsley is wearing a blue uniform which is a prison uniform - a clear reference to his upcoming trial
A pivotal moment that sets Kingsley on a path full of rebellion, betrayal, trauma, and death.
As mentioned above, Kingsley is holding a white tulip. It is a reference to his relationship with the feared Demon Lord as well as an easter egg reference to one of my favorite tv shows of all time: Fringe
The cherry blossom branch is a ref to the first paragraph in episode two:
I remember the cherry blossoms. Their perfumed scent clung to the rippling air as the gunshot echoed in my ears. The Ilkhatal twitched & tumbled, his oranges rolling down the mosaic streets & through his splattered blood
The problem is Alex hasn't realized how complicated justice and restitution can be in a polarized, colonial, capitalist, and racist world.Β
Kingsley's References
On Kingsley's side of the cover, we see a cherry blossom branch in full bloom descend from the top, right corner.
The core struggle of the plot revolves around Kingsley's efforts to make his crimes look less terrible while incriminating everyone else & Alex's efforts to uncover the truth (no matter how contradictory and complicated it may be) and ensure justice for all people who have been wronged.
abandoned their wife after a life-threatening miscarriage to interview Kingsley - the same anthro crocodile who tortured Alex's wife while holding Alex prisoner and forcing them to write propaganda for Kingsley's cause. They are also one of the podcast's main character and unreliable narrators.
He is also one of the podcast's main character, author of the memoir, and one of the podcast's unreliable narrators.Β
On the left side of the cover is a white, clean shaven human with curly blonde hair, sitting in front of a typewriter. This is Alexander Phillips, a traumatized reporter who
