Perth, Western Australia I don't label myself or my outlook on life here, especially as my views and priorities may change over time. However, a longstanding tenet of mine is "Do as you would be done by", which works for me. Take me as you find me.

Our weekly protest in support of Palestine at Ashfield Bridge on Whadjuk Noongar land. 13/3/2026.
Here we are as usual at our weekly action to raise awareness about the genocide in Palestine.

He knows that quite well, but he'll keep repeating the lie anyway. This works because most people don't either check facts or think issues through - and do preferentially believe stories that confirm their existing biases.
Advance is blatantly creating and fermenting racist hatred towards migrants to help the Liberal Party win voters. This is happening out in the open for everyone to see and itβs just treated as an entirely legitimate political strategy - normalised and mainstreamed. Iβm so sick of this crap.
We're watching the remake in real time & surreal life - a new episode every day!
Single frame. Title: βMeanwhile, in a Syrian refugee campβ. Scene is refugee camp in washed out colour with tents, adult and child carrying babs in background. Foreground: woman in robe and hijab holding a soccer ball speaks to three young children saying, βPay attention kids. This could be our only hope.β
Game of hope.

Please delete this.
While unfortunately it's likely to get worse before it gets better, I have a feeling that this nonsense will soon become so obviously ridiculous that governments trying to enforce it will have to back down.
Make it ridiculous: Riverβ‘οΈSea
NB: Promoting ACTUAL hate against ANY group is wrong.

It's been pretty shocking all round.
Most people don't think it's wrong to want Palestine or Palestinians to be free. However, a powerful lobby has persuaded lawmakers (& others) not only that it is wrong, but also that some phrases are actually code for "destroy Israel" or "kill all Jews",π & some Jewish people are terrified by them.

David Pocock is clearly a decent and ethical person, and I wish we had more like him in parliament.
David Pocock says itβs right to post the good news about Iranian women footballers, but asks how many in govt will post about their βheinous billβ seeking to block all other Iranians from entering Australia.

I wondered about that too. Also this idea, which says a great deal, very succinctly:
"...changes to ... tax capital gains on investment properties wonβt make houses vanish, or suddenly appear, but it will encourage one group of property owners to supply a lot more houses to another group of aspiring homeowners, and the end result will be cheaper homes..."

I think this is a decent person who has recognised that, since the RC was established over the top of the originally-planned Inquiry, which he was to lead, the work he is now doing is neither what he agreed to at the outset nor at the level at which he is being paid.
I trust him to tell the truth.
Excellent!
That should remove the smirk.
A political cartoon by Megan Herbert in which a journalist asks Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, " Have you just committed us to a war?" And the PM responds, " No, I've committed us to a (preemptive retaliatory de-escalation action to protect and defend Australians and other citizens in response to a request by our new strategic partner by sending defensive missiles & surveillance equipment to protect the airspace and assist the region with its collective self-defence against reprisal attacks that come as a result of the ongoing operation launched as an anticipatory response to perceived threats by historical allies acting against the established international rule of law who are too powerful for us to in any meaningful way challenge.) There's a very big difference." The words in brackets are arranged in such a way that they completely fill the word WAR written in a huge, hulking, bold khaki font.
A war by any other name.
My cartoon in today's @theageaustralia.bsky.social
After watching this I checked whether "collective self-defence" exists in international law. It does & is defined. However, apparently, it must be "a last resort & proportionate". I query whether Australia's assistance qualifies as "last resort" for the UAE, as opposed to acquiescence to USA

This is insane. If, as the article states, he said the phrase in the context of explaining what it actually means as opposed to what some have asserted, then anyone saying it in any context, including in his trial, could potentially be arrested.
In contrast, storming iftar event, signing bombs...
Still #ComplicitinGenocide and now in an illegal war and #WarCrimes with the rogue states.

The Police who attended need to explain why they didn't detain this person.
I had a similar experience in the 70's. Some bikies invaded & started to trash what they perceived to be a "hippie" party, were immediately subdued & sat on by the partygoers & were then removed by the Police. 3 months each.
Your body is likely telling you that you need soup, rest & absolutely no doomscrolling.
I hope you feel rested and more energised tomorrow.
This is a very interesting read.
