I’m a hardass about this in theory (I know it’s another matter in practice) but I think we only owe a conscious/considered choosing to tell the truth as we know (and have lived) it. That consideration might lead to withholding, but in theory, I don’t think I OWE anyone the withholding of my story.
In all the teaching I've done, nothing has been more effective for more writers than the kind of gentle accountability that comes from a regular schedule of shared, quiet writing time. Join me and my co-host @saraharonson.bsky.social to make a commitment to your writing in ‘25!
