I could cite how German cities did not cancel their Karneval/Fasching celebrations back then or the horrifying numbers of how 30-35% of young Germans now vote for the far right, how their murders had zero impact of Germany‘s descent back into fascism, but today is just for grief.

19 February 2019 is a date burned into many non-white Germans’ memories: on this day, a far-right terrorist murdered nine young people. He also severely injured Ibrahim Akkuş, who passed away as a result of this earlier this year. So many of us heard these news and thought that could’ve been me. 1/
