Cool. Talk to me when Bettancourt calls for Abbott, Patrick, or Trump to step down for their actual reckless behaviors. That would actually be news. Until then, he's just a partisan hack being a partisan hack, which is not newsworthy.
@souperman
Received a Political Science and History degree 20 years ago from Southwestern; haven't used it except to yell at the tv. Houstonian, also a genealogy nerd. Mainly sending missives to the void. My opinions are my own (nobody else wants them). (he/him)

I can think of nothing more Texan, or at least Houstonian, than a display of our diversity. I agree with a quote in the article that you don't get to have it both ways - mandating the 10 commandments but banning other religious forms of expression that you don't like.
Sounds good to me. Fuck ICE; they should all be hauled in front of Nuremberg 2.0 trials.
Hi FBI, NSA, et al! Hope your day is full of people exercising their First Amendment rights to tell you to shove it.
Cool. I won't be going anywhere that has such blatant disregard for their employees or customers. When someone tells you who they are, believe them.
Katy Freeway at Silber is "north Houston"? North of Webster, sure, but not what I would call "north" in relation to the city as a whole.
Weirdly, clicking the link returns "Sorry, this survey is not current active". Guess they weren't seeing the answers they wanted...
In what shouldn't be a surprise, today underscores the fact that a poorly trained and overly armed federal goon squad is far more dangerous than the undocumented people trying to scratch a better life for their families that they are ostensibly policing.
Why are you spending time and electrons getting Kim Ogg's opinion on anything, especially the Democratic Party, which she very publicly left in a temper tantrum after losing renomination? She lost any right to comment on intra-party Democratic issues the moment she openly endorsed Cancun Cruz.
Mattress Mac keeps trying to buy Harris County's government and failing, and a large portion of the county actually *likes* him. Good luck, Greg.
I shot the (sans) serif?
At this rate, they should lower their expectations to "renting the libs".
I will grant that we haven't gotten to that point (yet) in this debacle of a regime, but I feel that I should point out that hungry people revolt. It didn't turn out well for the Bourbons or the Romanovs. Just in general, it's a bad idea to give already desperate people one more reason.
Lol, I literally met my now-wife as a direct result of therapy homework.
Okay, who had "worst damage to the White House since the British/Canadians burned the place in 1814" (not counting renovations that were duly appropriated with historical preservation in mind) on their bingo card?
John Quitmire (we never forgot that, Mr. Mayor) to leaders: don't lead.
I mean, sure, if they had played as the Baltimore Browns for a couple of seasons, used Browns throwbacks against Cleveland, and also not let Cleveland use the Browns name and records. I wish Houston had gotten the deal Cleveland got from the NFL, not Moon and Campbell in a Nashville Ring of Honor.
Mattress Maga spending millions in an attempt to buy Harris County Commissioners Court is only going to give GOP consultants jobs. Probably won't even help his own business; I know I'm never buying anything from him, as I have no interest in funding his political goals.
Ted's mom was born in Delaware, making Ted a US citizen by birth, even though it was in Calgary, so neither he nor his mother applied for asylum.
Don't get me wrong, I want him to take a permanent Cancun vacation and never return, too, but we should get the facts right.
Week 16: Sunday, Dec 21 vs. Los Angeles Raiders
I'm assuming that the Raiders haven't moved back to Los Angeles, or did I seriously miss something?
"The sun has riz, the sun has set, and damned if we aint still in Texas yet."
The Warhamster crossover we never knew we needed!
I mean, I live in Houston and City Council renamed our big airport after GHW Bush back in *checks Wikipedia* 1997, and it's still Intercontinental or IAH to me. And that was done legally, not by someone just proclaiming it.
βKill Sone Nazisβ Munchkin card
"Go fash, sales crash"?
I'm wondering if there are any enterprising DAs in Maryland and/or Virginia willing to prosecute obvious cybercriminal activity if Elon or any of his stooges happen to wander into their jurisdiction (e.g. federal annex buildings, any of the three major DC area airports)
And here we have formerly proud Senators and Reps rolling over for belly-rubs and turning over the power of the purse, formerly the crown jewel of legislative power, to an unelected South African apartheid-loving fascist. Not seeing many profiles in courage, esp. among GOP officeholders.

And in another episode of "my poli sci degree from 2005 is obsolete", we were constantly taught that people with power would hold on to it, even if their fellow travelers were threatening to take it away. That checks and balances would hold because of Congressional obstinance.

Just trying to put credit where it's due, and I don't see the state govt very involved in this. I'm glad the GOP DA of McLennan Co is good about that, and definitely hope that it helps pulls TX out of the cellar, but the state govt doesn't seem to deserve any credit here
Harris County is (finally - I remember the sad ballots I filled out in college) a very bluish purple, so all countywide executives, including the new DA who replaced the turncoat Kim Ogg, are Democrats. I don't know that the state govt had much to do with it.
