The death of (some of) the Trump tariffs looks like it's going to work out well for clean energy, at least for now.

This week on @cleaninguppod.bsky.social I sat down with @roberthoglund.bsky.social, a towering figure on the thinking/doing front line of Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR). And he says the sector needs to stop promising "speed and scale" and focus on "proving and learning". Spot on. youtu.be/YpddT8QDkcw

Article updates on the repeal of the endangerment finding for CO2. The administration is worried that their case is not strong enough to withstand legal challenges.

This seems to argue against the Hansen et al. argument for high climate sensitivity, as laid out in this paper: academic.oup.com/oocc/article...

Eh ben non, il y a la "malédiction des ressources" !

2026 brings real climate progress 🌍✨ Renewables have overtaken coal as the world’s top electricity source, clean power growth is spreading to places like Pakistan & the Maldives, and cheaper renewables mean jobs, resilience & energy access everywhere 💡🌱 #CleanEnergyWins

Prediction: as electricity costs (continue to) rise in coming years, Trump & the right will falsely blame clean energy & the quiescent US political press will dutifully amplify that message. A coherent, competent communications apparatus would see that coming & do something to forestall it ...
Adopting electric vehicles (EVs) can substantially reduce households’ greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. In August 2023, we surveyed 633 U.S. adults about their intentions to adopt 30 GHG-reducing actions. Purchasing EVs was the most polarizing, with positive intentions among liberals and negative intentions among conservatives. Meanwhile Elon Musk, chief executive officer of EV manufacturer Tesla, has adopted a conservative public persona. We tested whether perceptions of Musk have made Teslas less polarizing than other EVs, with surveys in November 2023 (n = 539), May 2024 (n = 500), July 2024 (n = 511), and March 2025 (n = 689), randomly assigning respondents to consider purchasing either a Tesla or an unspecified EV. Conservatives consistently disfavored purchasing both Teslas and EVs, irrespective of their perceptions of Musk. Liberals showed declining intentions to purchase Teslas compared with other EVs, and, to a lesser extent, declining intentions to purchase EVs in general. We found both effects to be associated with negative perceptions of Musk. Musk’s public persona therefore may have reduced liberal support for Teslas without increasing conservative support. We compare our results to recent sales and consumer data
Interesting paper on the impact on electric vehicles of Musk's unpopularity.
He's so unpopular that it's even hurting liberals views of EVs.
