I'm so sorry - I would have cried, too.

I'm so sorry - I would have cried, too.
I've been reading a bit about using the states to bring about the change we need - changing the rules for corporations in the state to nullify Citizens United, for example. This is good, too. Stuff I never thought about before, and need to think about more.
I wish that was unbelievable.
Especially if you live in Alaska or Maine, call Murkowski & Collins, because they're acting like "no" is possible. Tell them to stop dithering and Just Say No on Casey Means.
Murkowski: (202)-224-6665
Collins: (202) 224-2523

Even if the initial publication could be deemed a mistake, their response to that mistake over the following years was deliberately chosen. Now, it's too little, too late.
Fate, it seems, is not without a sense of irony
Thank you, Sen. Murphy!
Besides holding truly warped beliefs about health and health care, Casey Means is a grifter. She promotes all manner of nonsense companies in return for them funding her projects (like her newsletter). She is *bad news.*
Tell your Senators to vote no on confirmation!
Are large corporations investing in AI? Or are they gambling with AI? And what would it look like if it was one versus the other.
A wonderful thread for word nerds!
My sister and I did the work 20 years ago for our parents. My dh is now doing it for his mom. I am grateful beyond words that he's retired, because he has to handle her money, check in with assisted living staff, visit 2-3x/week, talk her down when she calls & doesn't know where she is...
I mean, didn't you just get yourself dug out from your last blizzard? If you don't really need a second one, just send it this way. Our mountains could really, really use the snow.
I would count myself blessed both by the help you gave, and by what it meant to you.
If you are in Tennessee, call 844-HELP4TN to speak to a licensed Tennessee attorney who can give you referrals to attorneys in your area. "ambulance chasing" is illegal, real attorneys will never do this.
If I hadn't died at birth, I would have died from the strep infection in my kidneys that put me in the hospital when I was 2 years old.
I canβt go outside
Or theyβll take me for a ride
Iβm living in the land of the free
My husband gave me the OED for my 50th birthday. Not the two volume version that comes in a slipcase with a magnifying. The whole wonderful 20-volume edition. It's hard to imagine a better gift.
Just cloned Stand With Minnesota for another state.
I am so excited someone finally took me up on the offer. I even made them a little logo and redid the site in their colors.
@jowiph.bsky.social - You might know someone interested in this (or the other internships on this thread).
There are ~3,224 Democratic state level representatives in the US. Here are four pieces of model legislation, ready for any state legislature, built on existing case law, designed to work against an oppositional authoritarian federal government, and vetted fully by legal scholars and policy experts.
We need to remind these people that they work for us on 2-year employment agreements, and it is up to us whether to renew their employment.
They *represent* us (or ought to). They do not *rule* us.
Too many of them forget, and believe they are *owed* their positions.
Remind them of the truth.
For word nerds - I wouldn't have thought of this, but it is absolutely true.
Catherine's Pascha, a picture book with a dark-haired girl on the cover. She's holding a basket of red eggs with gold crosses painted on each egg. In the background, the risen Christ emerges from an arch in a church tower. The full moon is rising behind the tower.
When my kids were small, I wanted them to have books that showed people celebrating Easter the way we celebrate it - staying up all night, with candles and bells and singing and shouting and a giant party. I couldn't find one, so I wrote one! It's a great gift for little ones at the start of Lent. β€οΈ
All my book peeps! Look at this!
@hcrichardson.bsky.social I don't know if you're on Threads or not, but someone on that thread said you should see it.
A fascinating thread over on Threads. www.threads.com/@that.mathev...
And, because I forgot to say so, Happy birthday to you, too!
Oh, thank you! That is also a wonderful birthday present!
Hey, y'all! It's my birthday! That makes it a great day for you to help the folks in Minnesota!
