Normie Rowe never put out anything remotely βprotestβ. This song came out well after he landed. The PM at the time thought he could replicate Elvis and turn popular opinion around. Failed miserably.
As prefaced, TOKEN 2 is a song about the folks who made it home and what awaited them.
Not an explicit βprotestβ song perhaps but the message is pretty clear.

Bringing it home this week.
Normie Rowe was Australiaβs Cliff Richard until he was drafted to go to Vietnam in 1967, even though his βnumberβ never came up in the lottery. Unlike Elvis, his career never recovered.
TOKEN 1 is about him.

There are no ANZACs now, the last died in 2002, but the ANZAC Day marches are probably more popular now than they were even when I was growing up. I always make a point of trying to watch the Dawn Services at ANZAC Cove and Villers-Bretonneux on βt Tube.
βThere were no V-Day heroes in 1973β
I think I have token 2 ..,
For sure.
Famously, he never came out with his views on Vietnam. Everyone just assumed he was against the war, because, well, you know, folk music, but he never really said anything on the matter.
I was wondering when the Oils would make an appearance. Throw a dart at their discography and youβre guaranteed to hit a protest song of some sort.
Strangely enough, Dylan was never comfortable with the βspokesman for a generationβ role others conferred upon him, and which led to him practically disappearing for the best part of a decade.
Bring back Kittyβs Grammar lessons!
Sorry, but this was too good to let pass.
NOT A TOKEN, obviously

Good morning, Kitty and Jukeboxers everywhere. And a big thanks to @stillhonest for manning the bar this weekend.
Itβs a 1979 double bill from me this edition. Back when the world still seemed simple and innocent.

I wanted to think we had one or two before the New Year but I couldnβt find them. Thanks Snowfloe!
And in 10 years when todayβs seniors are rolling off, they will turn around and find no-one left to take over.
Same as in accounting, marketing, customer support, you name it.
I saw this when RPA was the buzz.

October 2023.
Last edition on that other accursed place we do not mention.
January 2023, we lose founder member Al. He is missed. He would be chuffed to see his Hearts of Midlothian sitting on top of the ladder!
November 2022.

November 2021, we see Kitty for the first time!

If someone were to say June or July 2019 I couldnβt argue.
Of course we were over on that other accursed place back then, and Kitty was still plotting her takeover.
I seem to remember joining just after I came back from my trip to Auckland, that was October 2019. Miranda had been involved a few weeks beforehand, and I think Jukebox had been going a little while by then.
So Iβm wanting to say September 2019 at the very latest.
Second half of the Kiwi double bill, although recorded and filmed in Melbourne.
