[Review] I'm happy and impressed that Journal with Witch allows Emiri space to vent her darkest and most resentful thoughts.

the reaction to this clip everytime it gets posted proves you should let these old shows speak for themselves when it comes to selling them to people.

any other version of this story would have had emiri work through an unrequited crush on asa, but journal with witch instead lets emiri vent some of her darkest feelings about her best friend, to a partner who listens and doesn't condemn her. verisimilitude through messiness. women can do anything.

Been watching Yoi carry an umbrella to evade the blazing sun and wished I, too, lived in a society without idiots that comment "Raining much?" whenever someone is walking with an umbrella in sunny/snowy weather.

This moment with Juno was as much a gut punch as the first time around. Their comment hits at both the way motherhood can deprive women opportunities, but also the anxiety that in being queer/non-conformative, you somehow rob that sacrifice of its value—the ways systemic oppression is interwoven

In an era where 3DLO have become a key part of TV anime, the idea of shots with noticeable physical depth is consolidating around the same type of objective depictions of space. Shinashina's storyboards for this episode do have some intricate cuts like that, but also a lot more ways to imagine depth
