πŸ¦‡ Bats do not make nests, but choose various places throughout the year to roost. Bats roost in houses, both new and old but some species prefer hollow trees, or caves. In buildings they often shelter behind hanging tiles and boarding or in roof spaces.

Two noctules getting inside a tree hole

- During spring/summer female bats tend to prefer warmer roosts to raise their young.
- During winter, bats usually prefer cold roosts to allow them to lower their body temperature to hibernate.

πŸ¦‡ What is a bat roost? Some key points below:
- Bats do not make nests, but choose various places throughout the year to live - aka bat roosts.
- Bats don't stay in the same roost all year round.
- Some individuals can be very loyal to their roosts, often returning to the same roost year after year
