Golden sunset with vivid oranges and blues, with the silhouette of an oak tree in the foreground.
Pretty special sunset to finish off the first day of the New Year in #Suffolk

Welcome to my personal echo chamber. Hints of wildlife, ecology, environment, climate, community and social justice may appear here from time to time. There might even be the odd photo of Suffolk's beautiful skies.

Itโs a great sculpture in a beautiful setting. Weโve numerous photos of it over the decades (often with somebody peering through the round hole in the middle).
Itโs a relief to hearing somebody else echoing our own tech troubles ๐
Dads, eh!
Thatโs a good call, Adam. Just looked โem up and the Alder Wood Wasp (Xiphydria camelus) seems to tick all the ID boxes for the example we saw. First one weโve ever noticed. Thanks!
Anybody able to help identify this insect? Perhaps a type of sawfly?
Approx 2cm long, red legs, black & white on abdomen (with a hint of dark blue in the sunlight). Spotted on silver birch foliage.

Whitley N1380 โDY-Rโ crashed on 20th May 1940 during the Battle of France, killing its five-man crew. Their sacrifice was remembered this weekend by both the French and British at Hamรฉgicourt where they are buried.

@jonathanfoyle.bsky.social found myself appreciating these flying buttresses, gargoyles and construction style with new eyes, having watched Climbing Great Buildings. Almost expected to find you and Lucy Creamer dangling from ropes inside. Perhaps something for Series 2? Basilique de Saint-Quentin
They had no medals. No public record. Most went to their graves without ever telling their families what they had been ready to do.
Their story is one of the greatest secrets of Britainโs war effort, writes Andrew Chatterton.

Hurrah! Just seen our first House Martin of the year and itโs already checking out one of our farmhouse nesting cups. Perhaps returning to its old home? @sbghousemartins.bsky.social
Saw one daytime-flying around woodland at NT Sutton Hoo in #Suffolk around a month ago. Whilst an absolute delight to watch it flitting about, we were still hoping it was OK.

Apologies for straying off topic but the first House Martins and Swallows are now arriving back & Suffolk is bone dry. If you have an open field then create a mud splat and keep it moist until we have rain. This is a big one in Woolpit @sbghousemartins.bsky.social @suffolkbirdgroup.bsky.social
Can you help make a mud pie?
First house martins seen back in Suffolk this week !
What works best for you? We canโt decide if itโs the #spring Daffodils or Cowslips that makes us happiest. #Suffolk

The reason I bang on about the NHS is that I have worked in it for 40 years
Over half itโs existence
I remember a time, not that long ago when the majority of things worked well
Something happened in 2010 that changed that

Iconic cartoon with people looking at a long list of public benefits connected with climate action, asking โWhat if itโs a big hoax and we create a better world for nothing?โ
15+ years old, but still VERY relevent โ and if we had acted 15 years ago, the โbetter worldโ weโd be creating would be a LOT better & easier to reach. There are real consequences weโre just starting to see to not heeding this cartoon a lot sooner. Even worse if we donโt heed it now. #ClimateCrisis
1. Today the Tories unveil their new policy: ripping up the commitment to net zero by 2050. Kemi Badenoch, with no evidence, claims "it canโt be achieved without a serious drop in our living standards or by bankrupting us." What the evidence shows is the opposite. We can't prosper without it. ๐งต
Springtime sunshine and showers, lighter evenings and lots of lovely yellow flowers appearing, happy #SundayYellow - #dandelions #bees and #daffodils

Absolutely shocking decision from the Government to axe the Sustainable Farming Incentive.
We need to be increasing funding for nature friendly farming, not cutting schemes. This is a dereliction of duty towards farmers and the natural world.
