Back to reiterate that the scent of Girlcult makeup is so awful to me... I know some people are fine with it but it is so off-putting to me and makes me hesitate to use my two Girlcult lippies every time I pick it up 😩
This time I tried mixing ITY Earthy (cool tone brown) with Rom&nd #22 Grain Nude (warm brick color) and I like this! Visible makeup but kinda just right.
Also, even though this is one of my oldest lipsticks, I gotta say, the PMG MatteTrance formula is still so unique. It's not tight or drying. It's matte but smooth to apply. Not a siliconey or slippy feel. A bit powdery and soft. It's still really nice so I'm happy to use it more again after so long.
Since I realized warmer colors aren't so bad on me, I put on one of my more red-brown lipsticks (Pat McGrath Labs MatteTrance lipstick in Flesh 3). I used to think this was too red on me but matched with a chocolate brown hoodie, I like it a lot.
It's crazy, it's good, it's crazy good. Weird and insane but there's a method to the madness kinda thing
Anyway here's the zip-up hoodie I got that is the most comfortable thing I've ever worn. This made me realize this shade of brown really works for me. It's the KOTN Cozy Zip Hoodie in Coffee Bean. Got it on sale!

So...I guess I won't shy away from slightly richer colors. It seems warm gold, deep burgundy, navy blue, and chocolate brown look good on me! Colors that aren't too warm or cool, but more importantly, aren't too light. My grey-brown era continues, but now I have a better idea of the shades I need..
Same with the other warmer colors. My first eyeshadow palette had warm browns and golds and oranges. It looked fine but wasn't amazing. Since it felt off, it was part of why I thought the warmth was the problem. But I think it just wasn't saturated or deep enough.
I'd been avoiding "warm" colors and leaning so far into the cool tones. But a lot of the cool-toned colors I purchased were too light without me realizing. I think what's been missing has been depth. I can still do greys but I need it to be darker and warmer to suit my tone.
Then I thought about how the makeup look I got most excited about was last week when I did a pretty warm makeup look with the Bibliophilia palette with warm golds, browns, and deep burgundy reds. Thus hoodie is also a rich color instead of the more desaturated greys I gravitate towards. Hmmm...!! 🤔
I completely ignored that color on the rack before. I thought it was too solidly brown and I was so used to looking for warm grey or cooler browns. But it looked so much better on me!!! It wasn't a too warm or too cool. It's a solidly rich neutral dark brown. I bought it without hesitation.
Yesterday a small epiphany may have happened when I went shopping. I was eyeing a grey cardigan and about to check out but I asked if they had other colors. They had a Coffee Bean colorway but in a hoodie. I tried it on just to see if I liked the color. I looked in the mirror and it felt RIGHT
I love grey a LOT and I've been wearing grey and seeking out warm greys and grey browns and same with my excitement for the grey eyeshadows in the Bibliophilia palette. But whenever I put on only the grey shades, it doesn't look quite right. It might just be too cool-toned.
While trying to figure out my undertone and what colors would work better for me, I've been leaning towards mauves and cool-toned browns. It's so close to what I need but I think after doing multiple looks and revisiting photos... I think I went too far in the other direction and it's TOO cool/light
Now, I DO like the brown and grey-brown shades I now have, but they look best when I only wear something on my lips and nothing else. I can pull it off as a neutral. For the grey or black colors, it's alt and works. But paired with eye makeup, none of my lip colors really go with my eyeshadows 😬
This year I bought a bunch of lip products that lean very cool or even grey because usually when lip shades are called "coffee" or "brown" they're actually still quite orange or pink on me and not as brown as I want. I tried colors that looked as cool brown as possible to avoid that.
Related, I've been trying to figure out my undertone with questionable progress or success. I think I'm neutral olive with a HINT of warmth but not warm enough to suit "warm" foundation shades. My face has pink & green and I'm not good at color theory so I've mostly been confused while trying stuff.
I feel like I'm SO CLOSE to figuring out what colors (clothes and makeup) look good on me and make me feel good. Yes yes, "just wear whatever you like!" but for me, I'll wear colors I like but sometimes it just feels off so in the end I'm not satisfied. When the color's right, it feels RIGHT.
This is what my makeup looked like earlier in the day before I added the warmer colors. I also had more mauve lip color on earlier. When I got home I switched to just grey.
Tried to do a more grey look with the Bibliophilia palette today. Initially it was just the grey colors but something felt like it was missing so I still ended up adding the warm gold and reds around the edges and then it looked more complete. Still mostly grey but with a bit more interest.

my makeup brushes are all so soft and clean now... wow.... big recommend
I do think some of these brushes I don't need and I would like to replace a couple of them with nicer ones but I've decided that I need to prove to myself I will do enough makeup to warrant new brushes so I'm giving myself 3 months to observe my next makeup habits first.
I was considering getting new brushes but after washing every brush I already had? Uhhhh maybe not now

As 60 Tesla Takedown activists warned earlier this year: without Section 230, movement organizing will be censored. Groups like Indivisible, No Kings, 50501, or ICE out of Home Depot use social media to get out information, organize rallies, share resources, and connect with each other. If we lose Section 230, there will be a purge of Bluesky accounts, Facebook groups, and most of the other tools organizers use online, too. What's more, losing Section 230 will destroy abortion speech® online, and lifesaving LGBTQ+ resources as well? Activists have been warning for years that repealing Section 230 is a horrible idea. Without it, tech billionaires will be able to sue away any online video, protest flier, or other speech they don't like, and tech billionaires will also proactively censor speech on their platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok so that they don't get sued. Democrats like to say that they are trying to sunset Section 230 as a way to rein in Big Tech, when really the loss of this law will give tech billionaires the right to silence us all. If they really wanted to rein in Big Tech, lawmakers would pass robust federal data privacy and antitrust legislation so that people would be protected online, and have real choices beyond the billionaires' club.
