AAAAAH NEEEEERDS
Run by people more interested in money than the community, so basically.
Fan reports being shoved by Michael Rooker at a photo op, likely in a rush with heightened emotions because ops were so oversold and mismanaged. :/ pugetpress.com/2026/03/08/m...
Everything from folks talking about waiting 6+ hours to meet Kristen Schaal and still not getting their paid autograph to artists who were stuck in unfindable and unadvertised basement spots to cosplayers who got kicked out for unclear reasons, all posts gettin' DELETED. #ECCC
Trump: "Look, free Venezuelan oil!"
Oil companies: "Actually, we're good, oil is cheapest it's been in a while, we don't need that."
Trump: "YOU DIDN'T SAY THANK YOU AND CALL ME JESUS, I WILL SHOW ME...UH, YOU"
I heard about the concert stage upstairs (which the year they had us in Musicalley was...not well curated or directed or anything), but we weren't invited as musicians nor were any of our Seattle nerd music friends. ECCC has no idea what it wants to be other than greedy.
Iβve had an exhibitor booth here for 10 years or so and weβre not re-upping this year bc of the disastrous way we were treated. They got rid of our booth upstairs to put in a concert stage and kicked us downstairs and then did no advertising to let people know that the floor wasnβt just resellers.
My nerd band will be doing a set at this frankly incredible event next Monday the 16th at the Twilight CafΓ©. Must be seen to be believed. Interactive Video Game concert!
I love sled hockey. I don't love that every time the US score a goal they play the same solo to Freebird. And it was US 14, Italy 1... #Paralympics
I have moved from lumbar pain to midback. EVOLUTION.
The βmedia biasβ chart so many people keep sharing is very dumb. This one I made a few years ago contains the same information and is just as useful.
The deaf dancer was accompanied by strings, including the fabulous pianist and cellist Valentina Irlanda, who has a rare muscular disease and must use oxygen and a wheelchair. What talent. www.tiktok.com/@valentinair...
The Paralympics opening anthem was played by three alpenhorns, a theremin, and singing glasses as the lead instruments. Unexpectedly beautiful.
The Paralympics Opening Ceremonies have been fantastic. There was an acrobatic/aerial act with a spinning mirror door that was extraordinary, an electronic musician with folks setting up optical illusion set pieces to play on, a deaf dancer, and this band who rocked the march. meduzamusic.net
Every Friday we have a group lab materials, equipment, safety, and staffing (MESS) meeting, 9 AM online. I needed to screen share a document we're working on, and the camera turned on. Welcome to my couch with echoes of CPAP straps on my makeup-free face.
Today, *I* am the MESS.
Kindergarten teacher voice: "Okay, WaPo, we don't have to say every thing that comes into our inbox. That's a silly idea! No, friend, catch a bubble, we're going to make some different choices."
βNo front-page stories in NYT, WSJ, WaPo. No mention on NBC and CBS Sunday Shows. No stand alone segments on Evening News shows. A death count on par with the OKC bombing is relegated to the back page.β www.columnblog.com/p/corporate-...
It's written in basically the same tone (and I did the audiobooks, she read them both). It's pretty stark realism. It's hard to say I liked it because nobody in it is particularly likeable, but the story's really catchy.
good lord, a marine was calling out Senator Sheehy during a senate hearing so Sheehy gave him a compound arm fracture and then the cops tried to put the marine in handcuffs
@wyden.senate.gov @bynum.house.gov We The People did not ask to go to war. AGAIN.
I just finished Jennette McCurdy's "Half His Age," which was a somewhat fictionalized version of a relationship she had at 17-18. It's about a student-teacher relationship, and it reads like Lolita met Less Than Zero and Genuine Fraud. It's not long, but it's a lot.
My mistake, as ever, is taking a second to hope anything is moving in the right direction.
Was this a job option? Because for money I will also read to you aloud from the latest research because I WANT YOU TO KNOW HOW COOL IT ALL IS
Yes, I am a Science Bard. #scicomm
Animals vs. Magicians is exactly your gig.
We do maybe one or two in a row as we watch it, agree, but it hits the right spot these days.
I don't know if y'all are watching Strip Law on Netflix, but it's so stupid and hilarious. It's so very Las Vegas meets Bob's Burgers meets Always Sunny. There's a running gag with a guy named Lunchmeat. It's all pretty perfect.
Quite literally: God damn it.
