Today I officially withdrew from a US based conference I was invited to 😞

I feel horrible because I was really looking fwd to it, but the *real* danger of being denied entry (or worse) of being detained for *no reason* prevents me from travelling. I am sure I am not alone in this predicament ☹️

President of the Mexican Senate,
"We'll build the wall and pay for it.
But we'll do it according to the 1830 map of Mexico... Mexicans were settled in these territories before the U.S. The Mexicans living there are in what has always been their homeland."

Different rules of the game would have radically changed history.
Our counterfactual simulations show that without colonial transfers, Europe would have been a debtor β€” and South Asia or Latin America could have become global creditors.

Every morning I read the news and something else reminds me of Robert Musil saying in 1930s Germany that one of the defining aspects of fascism was the mockery of compassion

Even if that were the case, making the human trials more risky would have a negative effect since I would imagine it would be more expensive and harder to get backing to launch one. Human trials are the bottleneck. Better to improve the success rate of these even if it means more animal testing

I agree it would be a good thing. But it would need to be very well described, even maybe more so than the main text, for it to increase the value of the information of what didn't work, or what would need tweaking for it to work.

BioNTech details promising mid-stage data for its PD-L1xVEGF in aggressive lung cancer BioNTech's BNT327 shows promising survival data in lung cancer trial, with 72.7% of patients surviving one year, outperforming benchmarks set by Keytruda and Tecentriq.

BioNTech’s PD-L1xVEGF antibody has shown an impressive rate of one-year survival when used first-line for a serious form of lung cancer. If results stay consistent in larger trials, this approach could become the standard of care.

Hey @ec.europa.eu why is Eurostat not on bluesky and still posting on X? How can you promote high quality statistics and data about Europe on a platform that is owned and destroyed by someone who is actively undermining fact-based public discourse as well as the international order?

Elon Musk is a proven danger to good science, but the Royal Society won’t say so. That’s why I resigned | Kit Yates It is vital to act, and I urge colleagues to do so. How can we stand by and laud this man while he undermines scientific integrity? asks academic and author Kit Yates

🚨I promised I'd say more on the Royal Society and Elon Musk, so here it is. 🚨

I've resigned my position as Associate Editor at Royal Society's journal Open Science in protest at their lack of action over Elon Musk.
