No worries! I think that both are absolutely fine and it depends on what you are most comfortable with.
It's interesting that 'how I' gets more views! Maybe people are overall more interested in hearing about other people's experiences π€
Personally, I find that βhow toβ implies that there is a βcorrectβ way to do it, so I would go for something like βhow Iβ. But at the same time βhow toβ may be fine, especially if followed by βlike a PhD studentβ or something like that. (E.g. how to read an article like a PhD student)
