Excited to read this - Markβs earlier Bond book, Catching Bullets, was outstanding.
October 1965, and the Beatles are recording Drive My Car, Day Tripper, We Can Work It Out, In My Life and Norwegian Wood - to name but five.
I mean, thatβs a successful monthβs work.
The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker were each introduced to me with Christmas Day terrestrial broadcasts in the 80s, so the Christmas association is indelible.
At risk of being misunderstood, I love You.
Loving it! It seems to me that a few of them (Iβve Just Seen A Face, Nowhere Man and In My Life) show them putting some swing into the rhythm of the vocals, before realising that the songs had what they needed when played straight.
Loving this
Watching and absolutely LOVING Quantum Of Solace, this weekend. My highlight is the DC-3 sequence, but also the Aston, Tosca, Siena, Mathis, and some excellent lines of dialogue. I donβt know how it might have been without the writerβs strike, but thereβs much to love already.
This weekβs BBC Mastermind had a contestant answering questions about the Brosnan 007 films. I only got seven questions correct. #BadBondFan I need to do some serious rewatching.

This is pretty cool - a modern spy(ish) audio drama on the BBC. One for the le Carre fans. And itβs got Kevin McNally from TSWLM as the lead.

Excellent article from @ianleslie.bsky.social about how joking around developed the identities of the Beatles, Elvis and Radiohead. Iβm excited about his new John&Paul book.

There are many different reasons to buy vinyl, some more explicable than others, but itβs Valentineβs Day and nostalgiaβs not what it used to be, so #NowPlaying

Realised that my favourite Bond film (OHMSS), Beatles album (Let It Be) and Doctor Who Story (The War Games) - my three biggest entertainment obsessions over the years - are all outputs from 1969.
Bond using an oar to knock a baddie down in OHMSS and then to collapse the boat over the baddie might be my favourite fight move from 007. Maybe tied with using the towel on the Manticore in GE. Love it.
