Almost 10,000 authors have come together to publish an empty book protesting the theft of books by tech companies to train AI models.

Titled Don’t Steal This Book, it is empty of text except the names of the authors involved.. 🧡

Polls have closed in the first of this year's five German state elections, in prosperous Baden-WΓΌrttemberg. It's looking like a remarkable win-from-behind by the Greens under @oezdemir.de. Full results over the course of the evening.

SPD (German sister party of the UK #Labour Party) in Baden-WΓΌrttemberg down to 5.5%. That's barely above the threshold. While the South West was always difficult for the party, it's also worth noting that its recent support for welfare cuts suppressed its (small) core vote. Warning tale for Labour!

I am now long enough in the game to see former students, whose MA theses I marked, to publish their PhD books. I can only recommend Rowan's study. Insightful and with many findings that are still important understand Britain today.

It's not like people haven't pointed this out for at least a year or so. The problem was that no one in Labour wanted to hear it.

Go to university! No, get a trade! How can young people survive when all the paths are landmined? | Jason Okundaye Is it to be a degree and heavy debt when graduate jobs are shrinking? Or forgoing a degree, knowing society still worships them? Confused, angry: who wouldn’t be

Once upon a time, not long ago, there were people who thought it was perfectly normal to learn a trade, and then if you wanted to, to go university (and vice versa). A mate of mine learned the noble trade of toolmaker and then went to university to study political science.

Very often historians also have to explain why already at the time many people thought that stuff is stupid. (Big argument against historical relativism!)
