Day 14 of #startsmall - I think it might be time to go bigger. Drawing strength from friends and family as I figure out next steps.
Day 14 of #startsmall - I think it might be time to go bigger. Drawing strength from friends and family as I figure out next steps.
Day 13 of #startsmall - went back to Ezra Klein:βTrump is acting like a king because he is too weak to govern like a president. He is trying to substitute perception for reality. He is hoping that perception then becomes reality. That can only happen if we believe himβ Donβt believe him bit.ly/3Q0NZtD
The pocket book is all this administration understands. Why would you want to support fascists? I left and it feels great.
Day 12 of #startsmall- I have to admit that even small is hard today. #starttiny? I reworked a scene in my novel this afternoon. Itβs about the generational impact of family separation. Korea in the 1950s, but unfortunately just as relevant today. I can tune out the world when I write.
This could win a Pulitzer
Day 11 of my #startsmall life: I took care of my houseplants. I showered one (to treat mites) and gave another extra water because her leaves were droopy. Within an hour they were perky again. I used to think I was too busy for houseplants because it takes 30s once a week to water one. π±
@mcuban.bsky.social can you point us to evidence of buyers remorse? It would be energizing to see any shift.
Day 10 of #startsmall - today I tried to bully 3 friends into quitting FB/Instagram and X. If just 10% of people left those platforms, their stock prices would tank, and we would be making two fascist oligarchs very unhappy. And I would never need another birthday present ever again.
Call your senators! Script: "Plz fight Trumpβs illegal funding freezes, terminations, and cuts:
--Oppose all Trump nominees.
--Deny requests for Unanimous Consent.
--Oppose all Cloture Votes.
--Request a Quorum Call at every opportunity.
--Shut down the Senate."

Day 9 of #startsmall - I did it! I read the news today.
Day 8 of #startsmall - I watched @jimacosta.bsky.social say farewell on CNN and found strength in his message. Hold onto the truth. Thank you Jim.
Jim Acosta's closing message is a must-watch.
VERY good news from @bookshop-org.bsky.social!!
Day 7 of #startsmall - I signed up for paid subscriptions to @theguardian.com, and these substacks: Jennifer Rubin (formerly of the Washington Post), The Contrarian and Amy Siskandβs The Weekly List. What else should I be supporting?
Day 6 of #startsmall - I tried a new recipe for Sunday family dinner last night. Blended cottage cheese and garlic makes a delicious high protein white pasta sauce.
Day 5 of #startsmall I went to a yoga class. I focused on my breathing and tried to remember to recruit my body to get my mind back from the edge. I keep forgetting that my body is my ally, not just the inconvenient βcontainer full of bacon that I carry my brain around inβ as Shonda Rhimes once said
Two people sit at a dining room table. One shows the other the weather app on their phone, and says, βIt says itβs nineteen degrees out, but the general lack of empathy in our current climate makes it feel colder.β

Day 4 of my #startsmall survival plan - I read a chapter of Susan Minotβs βDonβt Be A Strangerβ before I got out of bed. I wanted to try giving literature some of my best time, not just my end of day leftovers. Highly recommend. #booksky ππ
Perceval Everett said he read Huckleberry Finn 15 times -not to memorize it but the opposite. To immerse himself enough to be free of its constraints. He woke up in the morning and read that book over & over again like a job. Makes me reconsider the lengths I would go to in order to make better art.
Day 3 of #startsmall I got to listen to @vision120.bsky.social talk about his brilliant book James. A true wonder how his mind works. Read this! Steven Spielberg did⦠:-) Thank you Seattle Arts and Lectures. And thank you Percival Everett for making our world bigger. #booksky

Honored to be your first follow. I havenβt written my profile yet - maybe I should add that! βCourtney Kleinβs first follow.β Also - awesome that you got your name!
Day 2 of #startsmall: I am doing a downward dog stretch every time I see my dog Sonic doing one. I realized this morning that that these little acts are about finding my way back to my strength and energy to fight.
Hooray! We made it all the way over here. Iβm going to try to do one small thing every day. Day 1: start migration over to Bluesky. Thanks for being part of my Day 1! Sending love and strength to all.
Excited for this!
