An exceptionally well-preserved Ordovician trilobite I came across this week.
Not my find this time — but the level of detail is incredible, with the thoracic segments and cephalon almost perfectly intact.

Orthoconic cephalopod fossils (likely nautiloids, Orthocerida) preserved in a marine limestone slab.
These Paleozoic cephalopods (~400 Ma) are early relatives of modern squid and octopus, belonging to the same class (Cephalopoda), before the evolution of reduced or internal shells.
