what worries him
is the climate.

My friend

what worries them
are infections.

My friend
the historian

what worries her
are the people
who aren’t worried.

I know, my friend,
that change can be difficult,
and wearing a mask
and taking precautions
will require you
to make changes,
but considering
that a study has found
β€œLong COVID
may be triggering
Alzheimer’s-like changes
in the brain,”
it seems you can change
or you can be changed.

I’ve noticed that too. Lots of people working in vacuums. It feels disingenuous and sloppy. So important to recognize whose shoulders we stand on. Basic feminist praxis.

Young, stuck and shut out: a new EU deal could change that Even a capped, time-limited youth visa scheme would be of value to young people in the UK and EU

Young people are locked out of opportunities their older siblings took for granted. A UK–EU youth visa deal could begin to change that.

My mother who has Alzheimer’s is in a care home nursing ward in the UK. Her predominantly immigrant carers are wonderful, gentle, kind, and humane people who treat her with dignity and respect. They are short-staffed, under-paid, work long shifts. They also support my Dad who visits daily.

From the police to the prime minister: how Adolescence is making Britain face up to toxic masculinity The Netflix drama isn’t just a critical smash – its tale of social media-fuelled violence to women by young boys has forced a national debate in the UK that might lead to genuine political change

It’s a mistake to reduce the excellent drama β€˜Adolescence’ to a discussion of how social media fuels violence and misogyny in boys and men. It also highlights the terrible state of the education system in the UK and multigenerational trauma from male violence
