what was the idea behind returning danny to the underworld at the end of the series, instead of having him remain on earth?

the possibilities for danny have been expanded on infinitely.
overall, undead iron fist was a blast. it was fun, action-packed and more profound than you might think, especially if you’re a big time iron fist dork like myself.
once again, i have to thank
character and lore rooted in chinese myth and blending it with egyptian myth is very cool (especially as a moon knight fan).
danny’s new allies in osiris and t’an-long are great ways to bridge the myths, and maybe even open up danny to exploring other mythologies. maybe he’ll come to blows with
his students.
jason combined the vengeance of old danny and the paternal love of modern danny in a brilliant fashion.
this book is a celebration of classic and modern iron fist, and i love it.
i also love the blending of mythology. the marvel universe is comprised of every mythology, so taking a
iron fist to seek vengeance against the man who killed his father and left he and his mother to die in the mountains. iron fist was born from rage.
as ghost fist, danny again chooses vengeance, but not out of rage. he chooses vengeance out of love, and paternal instinct. to protect pei and lin lie,
the character, but the narration, which homages the second person narration from the 70s iron fist comics with a fun twist, and the themes of this book.
vengeance is an integral theme of danny rand and his stories and jason uses this theme to push the character forward.
danny originally became
good. i wish i had more to say about it, but my knowledge on comic lettering is about as good as my french, which isn’t saying a lot.
and last, but certainly not least, jason’s writing was phenomenal. there’s a clear appreciation for danny and his history, as shown through not only his voice for
perfect, no comic is, and it could’ve benefitted from being 5 issues rather than 4.
but i think this was the best it could’ve been with only 4 issues. fran and jim are an incredible art team, and i think they’ll go down as some of the best to work on this character.

i hate to take up more of your time, but could you perhaps explain the choice to introduce egyptian mythology into iron fist? i personally think it’s super cool, but i’ve seen some confusion among fans.
I basically fused together Osiris’ hieroglyph and Shou-Lao’s insignia to form Danny’s new avatar. And since he’s been completely stripped of Shou-Lao’s chi after his passing, Danny had to develop a new power set. Editor Dan Khazem thought it would be cool if his chi color was purple and I 100% agree
read UNDEAD IRON FIST #3 earlier and loved it! it’s more story-heavy than the previous issues, which i love!

i know this may be sacrilege to other iron fist fans, but to me this was on the same level as fraction, brubaker & aja’s immortal iron fist #1, if for different reasons than immortal.

i just finished the undead iron fist #1 by @jasonloo.bsky.social and fran galán, and this is EVERYTHING an iron fist comic should be!
imo it feels a lot like john wick in how it tells its story. a seemingly simple revenge story that quickly evolves into SO much more through the badass action. 9/10!
