Among other things, I write about college football for Gator Country. US Navy husband. Known as Year2 elsewhere, but that's from an old blog I started in 2006 and it's been a while.

Folks, I regret to inform you: This design was OK'd by the Citizens Coin Advisory Committee in...October 2024. Its design was set in place when Biden was in office. The designer left out the olive branch to symbolize the colonists' not yet achieving peace, but hoping for it. Trump didn't do this.

I have no idea how I ended up on a list that resulted in RH (formerly Restoration Hardware) sending me a nearly 600-page catalog of exclusively off white, beige, gray, and/or brown furniture that carries a mandatory $1700 *delivery fee* to Hawaii, but hey, support the USPS I guess

Going to spend the rest of the evening writing a 3000-word Substack essay on how I asked a flagship AI model to overlay the lines of imperial partition on a map of the 1950s Polish rail network and it invented East-Central Grussia.

I really liked this thread because it jives well with my experience.

Thread with a specific example.

I’ve built a really cool python-based solution for accessing econ/fin APIs and pipe charts into formats for publication. It saves me…silly amounts of time. It works great, well-documented. But.

Always cracks me up that stores actually *sell* Spanish moss here in Hawaii for people to use as decoration in their orchid displays

Apropos of SecDef's remarks this morning:

Denial of quarterβ€”even the declaration of no quarterβ€”is a war crime.

And recognized as such by the US Government.

From DoD's Manual for Military Commissions.

Pretty sure markets are assuming he can luck his way out of this jam because he always does, forgetting that Covid showed it absolutely doesn’t always happen and his horrible leadership can cause persistent problems. You also can’t CARES Act your way out of the Strait of Hormuz being closed

I kid you not... The same White House that forgot that invading Iran might lead it to close the Strait of Hormuz, is now arguing (through Peter Navarro) that war with Iran is a good idea because it'll prevent Iran from closing the Strait of Hormuz.

I might be more than half convinced that he’s finally taking SpaceX public because he can see the writing on the wall for Tesla (autopilot/FSD lawsuits alone threaten it plenty financially, on top of everything else) that he realized he needs another public-stock piggy bank to sell or borrow against

Between backing GOP politicians who vowed to kill EV subsidies and emissions regulations and pivoting away from cars to far fetched robot and robotaxi products, you’d be forgiven for thinking Musk wasn’t trying to tank Tesla on purpose
