The quote: β€œAris waited until the groundskeeper turned around the bend of the carriage way to break the window.” Above a series of images: a forest canopy, a student by the river in a historical city, a shelf of oddities including animal skulls, someone in a dress shirt and vest, a forest, a large animal skull, people holding cups and cigarettes around a table, and a notebooks with sketches of a skeleton.

Thank you so much! After reviewing, I also realized I forgot to take out his name! Hoping my revised version is more concise.

When a grieving son starts seeing his mother's ghost, the enigmatic stranger who helps him cope also threatens to draw him further from his family and his grip on reality.

Yes! I plan on entering my YA Psychological Thriller/Horror! After editing for nearly two years, I feel like it’s time I get a fresh pair of eyes on it. Mine are tired.

Honestly, SAME. I was just workshopping mine for the trillionth time this afternoon. But it’s my first #RevPit, so I’m taking it as a learning experience if nothing else. πŸ˜‚

Do you have a logline? I’m very interested in the premise based on your moodboard!

Moodboard. Centre image is a pressure cooker with "CHEMPORTAL" written across it.

Outer images clockwise from top left:
- fancy drinks and food on a table set for 2
- typed text on a page of a book. "Chemistry" is highly visible
- a white woman with brown hair working on a car engine
- the Toronto skyline
- a colourful stack of books
- a bright light shining through a partially open door, obscuring the world beyond
- a bat hanging from a branch
- a stack of latkes

If Andy Weir and Ali Hazelwood co-wrote a book, it would be ChemPortal.

Hi Leah, hope it’s not too late to ask a question! First I wanted to say I also edit marketing materials as a day job. I saw you mentioned interest in confident and competent MC’s. Would I be correct to assume you’d not be interested in an MC struggling mentally/ dealing with hallucinations?

Essentials for Writers: Loglines In 2022, we started asking for loglines as part of the submission process for the RevPit Annual Contest. Because this was new to the contest and a lot of the authors in our community weren’t …

Hi Jeni, still playing around with different variations of my logline. I'd welcome any feedback! πŸ™‚

When a grieving son begins seeing his mother’s ghost, he meets the only person who can help him cope β€” but the further Sammy’s drawn from his family, the more the edges of reality begin to blur.

I won't have to worry about a hard pass then! I've been editing this manuscript for a few years now, and I really want to give it the love and care it deserves. Excited for what's to come over the course of the next few weeks during Revpit! Thanks again! πŸ™‚

Thanks for joining. This will be my first Revpit! Really looking forward to pitching my YA Psychological Thriller to you! It nails a lot of the interests you listed on your MSWL, and I think we'd be a great pair. 🀞 As an editor, is there anything that makes a manuscript a HARD PASS for you?

Stumbled upon your account and I’m really loving what I see. The dialogue here is so natural and doesn’t feel stiff at all. I could imagine it playing out in my head so well. Nice!

3/5: destroy -> destruction. this is one of my favorite dialogue exchanges #WIPSnips

Over the next few weeks, I visited Marc at least once, sometimes twice, a week. I always brought him something to eat and something we could do together; things like Uno, Trouble, and Simon. I brought a deck of cards and destroyed him in Spit, then let him β€œteach” me how to play Poker. I was enjoying it too much to admit I was the reigning champion of the late-night strip Poker tournaments they’d held in the dorm room below mine back in college. He seemed like he needed a win and it fit with the theme there seemed to be going: what people didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them.

I’d say it’s a YA voice closer to CG Drews rather than traditional YA, but thank you for your honesty! I appreciate it.
