Okay. I'll start limbering up.
Hello, I'm the very clever detective in the kind of police show that doesn't have gun battles or car chases. Once I've worked out the fiendishly complex case, I'll pop round to the murderer's house and explain my evidence-free conclusion to him.
My conviction rate is 0.0%
I always call this direct self-explanation and my favourite example's from the Lyttle Lytton contest:
βMom,β I asked my mom. βWhatβs for breakfast?β
βYou know I havenβt made breakfast since your father died in a mysterious car crash a year ago on your birthday,β she said sadly. βYou have his eyes.β

Panel One: A man is cooking in a kitchen. Behind him, his partner unpacks books from a cardboard box and puts them on shelves. He says to here βYour library can't spread in here as well! The books will get damaged by oils and steam from my cooking.β βGood point.β She replies. Panel Two: The woman now sits at the kitchen counter reading. Her books fill every shelf and cupboard in the kitchen. Through the window we can see that outside, in the rain, the man is attempting to cook on a barbecue.

Panel 1. A quote in a starry sky: βWe are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars. - Oscar Wildeβ Below, people are lying in the gutter. One is looking through a telescope. Panel 2. βGuys, astronomy is amazing.β Says the figure with a telescope βYou should all give it a try.β To which others reply βSure. Why not?β. Panel 3. Now the quote reads: βWe are all in the gutter but we are looking at the stars.β All the people are looking through telescopes. Panel 4. βThis is great! Apart from being in the gutter.β Says one of the people. Another replies βLetβs go to the observatory!β and leads the way. Panel 5. The quote now reads: βWe are all looking at the stars but some of us are in the gutter.β Everyone is in the observatory except two figures who lie in the gutter looking up through their telescopes. Panel 6. The original telescope bearer leans out of the window and asks βWhy are you guys still in the gutter?β and they reply βWe donβt like too much changeβ.
