Highlight of the @oelma.bsky.social conference was meeting @librarianjones.com and hearing her fantastic keynote! As a newer school librarian, I’m so inspired by her advocacy.
I got my $1 and my apology. I met falsehood with resolve, and I claimed my own voice by defending it.
And in that single dollar, my truth stands taller than every lie told. Let it be known: I will never back down.
For anyone wondering where all of these books ended up, many were put into our regular circulating collection, were offered to teachers, and given to students. We’ll keep a cart in the library for future giveaways, and I’m bringing a bunch to the little free libraries. Some will be discarded.

I loved reading Unplugged to my K-2 students in our last week in the computer lab as a reminder to spend their summers as unplugged as possible! The soundscape was a hit, as usual - the one for this book really made the book feel “full”.

As a former kid who spent hours poring through every school yearbook, it makes me happy to see my kids doing the same. And as a bonus, I’m responsible for the entire yearbook process at the school, so I am VERY glad they’re finally out of my hands 😅
I interviewed for a children’s librarian position last week, which included reading aloud a book to the interview panel over Zoom! They went along with the cues I gave as if they were the preschoolers I was reading to 😂 my kinda people! #librarylove
Dear publishers: please use matte paper for your picture books instead of glossy!! Our school library stamps stay so much better on matte paper when we’re doing processing. Also, it’s easier for kids to see the pictures during read alouds without the glare. Signed, school librarians 😅 #kidlit #tlsky
