Seriously the idea that this war is will go better than Iraq, Afghanistan, Vietnam, etc promoted by both its supporters and the “nothing ever happens crowd” when the president changes both rationale for it and stated mission objectives almost every time he talks, is absurd.
Slow roll it out and fail… probably because you didn’t want to do anything about it and you think you can leverage it electorally.
The number of people I know in MENA both in locals and in expat teachers means this stuff hits home for me directly. I am underplaying how angry I am.
I say this as a podcaster (so glass house) but left streamers, even after the decline of breadtube and the rise and stagnation of redtube have a charismatic person-who-talks until-they-blabber-based on vibes-problem that is more honest but as embarrassing as old school punditry.
Technically, no we are not at war, but Vietnam and Iraq weren't "technical" wars either.
Johnson: "They declared war on us… We are not at war right now."
Look, as bad as the Bush justifications for GWOT were, these people are comic book levels of “Orwellian” (a phrase I hate) gaslighting. Hegeseth has already called it a war.
he outlines this massive surveillance society under the pretense that ethical, responsible people will be in charge, undermined by his effort to cement a permanent zealot kakistocracy in a country too corrupt to have working regulators or corporate accountability of any kind
‘How ghoulish.’ The depravity economy moves into the nuclear war business.
News literacy and how to read it critically is at an all time low at a time when it is more important and even legacy media spouts bullshit (actually they always have but they aren’t sophisticated about it anymore). That isn’t dealing with fake pictures and videos.
So let me get this straight: “we” “participate” in a bombing campaign in Ecuador, threatening to indict Delcy Rodriguez, which would mean going back in Venezuela, and yet Trump is openly mad that they didn’t ramp up production for the Iran situation, and proxy plans are leaking.
Doesnt this threaten the unity of not just NATO but the entire EU?
There are three Horsemen of the AIpocalypse: First, a data center debt deal collapses - it fails to come together and the project is canceled. Second, a data center in construction falls apart, running out of money before it’s complete. Third, a data center fully built runs out of money and dies.
Publicly admitting you are nearly out of interceptor missles and starting an unrelated military action in Latin America when you look to be losing control of another one.
“No new wars” this is not
By out I mean out in the public not ruled out
Well, the boots on the ground talk is out, so no, this is not a Libya kind of engagement. Even if the goal was “syrianization,” this is looking a lot more like the GWOT except with a much larger nation. It also looks like Israel is entering Lebanon.
Agreed but I think we can safely de emphasize the “if” to just if.
Indefinitely, no. But we will run out of interceptors first and then this will go boots on the ground. The admin and its allies in congress are already directly signaling this.
So it is clear, no attempt at an industrial buildup for munitions, no attempt to realistic deal with supply chains after even the situation with the Houtis, no plan counter attacks in the region of any serious scale, no plan for getting US citizens out. Imperial elite hubris.
Let’s just admit it, the spirit of the National Inquirer is the long duree winner of the culture war.!
Hubris, brings low. Hubris meant excessive pride/arrogance/vainglory, but also sexual assault and theft of public property in the Ancient Greek law codes. In the old ways of thinking, it is idolatry. Nemesis is its reward. In this, I am a traditionalist.
