The year was 2014. I’ll never forget smelling coffee as I was walking back from a lab in the evening. Likewise, I’ll never forget smelling toast at a friend’s party later that year. Though MRIs showed no trauma + abnormalities, nothing prepared me for the neurobehavioural changes that ensued.
