If you think the NHS has problems, wait until you see the chaos across the pond.
It’s a complex system in US - Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, TRICARE - too often the sick fall through the cracks and either stay sick or lose a lot of money – or both.
“Reeves has been ratcheting up the rhetoric on closer EU relations which she described as the “biggest prize” in trade”
If only we’d acknowledged this BEFORE we threw it away in a fit of arrogant prejudice. Getting back in the room is far harder than flouncing off

I knew your 1st paragraph was talking about Liverpool but when you started a new paragraph I thought you were talking more generally hence my post
There were 5 by-elections last night of which 4 of them were
Lib Dem retained 2, won one from Green Party lost one to Green Party
You can’t comment as you have using only some of the info from one night of by-elections when both Lib Dems & Green ended up with same number of seats as before
An earlier result in had the Lib Dems take a seat from the Greens in a more southerly county.
At the end of last nights by-elections the Green party had exactly the same number of councillors as you started with on Thursday morning.
Very misleading in my view
LIBERAL DEMOCRAT GAIN
- from Greens

Since the last election the LibDems have continued to gain more actual councillors on the ground which is real progress
Who said it made me uncomfortable I was just giving facts from aftermath of WW2 & his funeral
I know what he did in India & I abhor those actions also the repatriation back to Russia of those that fought with Germany as Russia was their enemy
There is no doubt that Churchill was a hero in WW2 as otherwise there would not have been a state funeral
I am old enough to remember a state funeral being given to Churchill in 1966 when he died & if I remember correctly the only non royal to be given one ever.
Churchill was a hero to the generation that lived through & fought in WW2
You are judging him by standards other than those of his age
We've won the UK's first ever SLAPP suit - acting for @danneidle.bsky.social - and made some really important law protecting the right to call out barristers whose misconduct facilitates aggressive tax avoidance.
This is how our government has been corrupted:
1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat
We must get big money out of politics. It’s the root of all evil in Washington.
BREAKING: As many as 150 U.S. troops have been wounded in the war with Iran, according to sources familiar—far higher than the Pentagon’s publicly disclosed figure of just 8 seriously wounded troops. The true toll of this war is already far worse than the public has been told. (Reuters)
How much more evidence do we need? The ultra-rich and the governments supporting them will destroy everything for the sake of profit, power and pride. Nothing is precious to them - not human life, not the living world - except their own wealth and status. Our survival depends on resisting them.

Today the United States wasted another #1B on an illegal war in Iran, money that could have been spent on funding health care or providing SNAP benefits or cancer research or academic scholarships for minorities. I could go on and on but I think you get my point. #endtheiranwarnow

It’s time to cut our ties with America and this not so special relationship.
‘This is Trump’s war of choice. But Britain has choices, too. 250 years after the American colonists broke free of empire, it’s time for a British Declaration of Independence.’

Given Trump's illegal war that is devastating the Middle East and pushing up energy bills, Keir Starmer should advise the King to call off April’s state visit to the US.
A state visit should not be given to someone who repeatedly insults and damages our country.
Mary Wollstonecraft, once mocked as a “hyena in a petticoat”, argued in 1792 that women were rational beings who deserved the same education as men.
The idea was considered revolutionary.
Today she is recognised as one of the founders of modern feminism.

Single Market membership would bring certainty, lower costs and give firs access to customers and supply chains without constant paperwork and delays. It would support growth in goods and services, not just tidy up the margins. This is the pragmatic route back to serious economic Join the Single Market.
The Single Market was responsible for 41% of the UK’s exports in 2024, and remains the largest trading bloc in the world. Rejoining would eliminate trade barriers for most goods and services, control consumer prices, and allow capital, goods and people to move freely.
Ukraine is sending thousands of these drone interceptors to protect US air bases in the Gulf.
The country once told to “say thank you” is now exporting the future of air defense.
Turns out Ukraine had the cards all along.
Hitting desalination plants is so bad. Not just evil but strategically incomprehensible. Without desalination 75% of the entire population of the Middle East will be refugees. Israel and Kuwait depend on desalination for 90% of their water and other Middle East states aren’t far behind.
