Great convo w/ Prof. Gay Ivey & others, @technolibrary.bsky.social suggested a strong protective strategy would be to have student & parent book clubs, parents reading alongside Ss so they can step up at board meetings to explain why the books matter for Ss. #SchoolLibrarians #TLSky
THIS BOOK! Gut wrenching. Real. Knowing Rex Ogle comes out surviving doesn’t change how much I agonized for him throughout this memoir.Homelessness gets a face and a voice.Couldn’t put it down. Will never look at a homeless person on the street the same way again. READ THIS STORY! #schoollibraries
Consider donating to your local public library today! The impact they have on our communities go well beyond loaning books for FREE! #libraries
“There is an ecosystem, where you have the academic librarians, and the public (librarians) and the school, and the parents, and the student activists, and we all have to work together,” Jones said. “It is going to take all of us.”

I will be using your post in the grad class I teach. Even with copy cataloging and imports from vendors, I teach students to examine every record for not only errors but how to enhance for their students to locate material easier.
Love this song ! Yesterday I mentioned REO at the circ desk and my very young para said … Never heard of them… WHAT???

NEW: ALA is going to court to defend the #Erate program and its funding mechanism, the Universal Service Fund (USF).
E-Rate provides discounts to libraries & schools for broadband service, equipment, and other connectivity needs.
We fought to enact E-Rate. We will fight to keep it.

Engagement is the goal of trolls & those who traffic in mis- dis- & mal-information. With that in mind, I’ve stopped asking kids (& adults) to consider whether or not info can be trusted. Here’s the question I challenge them to grapple w/instead: “Should I engage with this?” bit.ly/trollposter_...

I’ve read about 20 books from my library. Didn’t keep track of titles since I borrowed some from local public library. I hate to read books from our shelves -it takes an opportunity away from students. This year I want to keep a better list. Also read SciFi and Fantasy which is not my favorite.
