me: i’m not coming in
boss: because gas prices?
me (shirt feels weird): yep
I love this and the note that inspired it so much!
And I'm a golem of 90% cat hair at any one time, I'd be the worst environmental archaeologist in the profession
We got a good deal on this one at Lidl a few years ago - use it multiple times a week and it can really handle a lot. I didn't want a drawer fryer because I'm old fashioned and like to see things cooking 😁
I am so sorry for your loss.
I've got into mead making and really enjoy the variations I can produce! Cranberry will th a wedge of lime and rosemary in the summer 🤩
I have been obsessed with Maen Llia since seeing it for the first time years ago. An almost timeless setting and beautiful drive to get to (Being not far from the Penderyn distillery doesn't hurt either)
Our latest online magazine article explores shipbuilding in the 9th to 11th centuries. Using evidence from the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, it challenges the idea that King Alfred the Great founded the English navy. 📃

This was such a joyful and thought-provoking discussion. I need to be airdropped into a room of medievalists more often
It was filmed in Iceland and it SHOWS. I of course have other opinions on the representation of the material culture and built environment but Last Kingdom did 'England' much better in terms of terrain
The landscapes of 'southern England' in King And Conquerer were too much in this regard, too jarring to enjoy even if the performances were generally good
If you liked this experiment, I published a full piece today in the same vein: a text that gets 100 years older with every section, from a modern blog post to a medieval chronicle.
It's a single story spanning 1000 years of English. See how far you get.

I changed to Zorin OS for my daily driver after my windows installation inexplicably broke one day. I'm annoyed I didn't do it sooner, it's such a pleasant computing experience
Yes MCR is inevitable, as does being independent! I'll join you as soon as I can but promote you as often as possible until then
Happy birthday!
I'm still too near my PhD award to participate, but for mid career independent scholars this is a fantastic initiative.

my proposal: every sport becomes biathlon (so figure skating they can pew pew as part of the routine, the sledding they have targets on the way down, the ski jump they have to take a shot at the peak of the jump and the highest shot gets a bonus)
It's a place that has meant a lot to people, in different ways, for thousands of years. A real gem! steyningmuseum.org.uk/steyning-mus...

This GOOD BOY ran onto the course during the Women’s Cross-Country Skiing Team Sprint event, crossing the finish line and being automatically recorded by OMEGA’s photofinish camera 😆
