It was a privilege to engage in insightful discussions with experts from various fields, facilitated by the hospitality of the Canadian Embassy and the crew of HMCS Margaret Brooke.

During this visit, the Embassy of Canada to Brazil hosted a roundtable titled "From the Arctic to the Antarctic: A Canadian Perspective" focusing on polar geopolitics and potential cooperation between Brazil and Canada in maritime security, and polar politics and science.

Last week, I had the honor of visiting the Royal Canadian Navy offshore patrol vessel HMCS Margaret Brooke during its port call in Rio de Janeiro as part of Operation Projection.
On the way to victory, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) integrated governance as part of its broader strategy and used its governance to signal ideas about its post-war commitments to the international community, which is very common among rebel groups: edition.cnn.com/2024/12/06/w...

These places are enchanted spaces and I love them. It's here that you'll find the old, forbidden, forgotten, dusty books of trouble, rebellion, resistance, and knowledge. This place doesn't care about bestsellers, face-out displays, etc.
a couple of people have asked what the point of having UN peacekeepers on the ground to just be sitting ducks, and I just want to note this is actually in part the purpose they're supposed to sere: their *presence* is supposed to deter violence because you're not supposed to *want* to target them
