Erin, you always do the coolest research. This is amazing!

Most of us (would) need perfect adherence for that though π
This looks awesome and seems to address exactly what tends to happen in my experiments (some participants donβt respond to manipulation as expected for reasons unknown)
Thank you! π
I like to listen to movie soundtracks while writing, especially Hans Zimmer
So far my approach to this has been in experimental studies: analyze the full sample, re-analyze after excluding participants for whom manipulation didnβt work, pray the results are unchanged. Would love to do better though
I'm constantly trying (/failing) to get this point across.
If you're a trained expert in a field, then it may be worthwhile to question the scientific consensus of your peers.
If you're not, the scientific consensus is absolutely the best you can do and it's arbitrary foolishness to disregard it.
We are recruiting! Postdoctoral research fellow at www.sdn-lab.org, studying the computational & neural basis of social decision-making. Birmingham is a fantastic & affordable place to live, with one of the youngest populations in Europe & over 600 parks. Please share!

This looks awesome, I look forward to reading this in detail soon!
Glad this popped up again because this is one of the best videos on the internet
This is such a bad take. All very wealthy people have ever done is exploit society for their own benefit, and you call people's brains fried because now their prior is that very wealthy people are going to exploit society for their own benefit; it's a very reasonable prior rooted in a lot of data
It would be easy if our theories would be less vague and evasive, see these excellent papers doi.org/10.1177/1745... and doi.org/10.1177/1745.... The reason why it is hard is because most psych theories do not make a single concrete, daring prediction
Reviewed some super cool symposium abstracts for SAA2026 in Vienna today. Bummed I won't be able to go this year.
Itβs more common in the US to only get an undergrad degree compared to both NL and Germany (probably because of the costs associated with going to uni)
I think that is partially why the first year of undergrad here (out of 4, compared to 3 in Germany) is more like the last year of high school in Germany than the first year of university
I tell this story to people and they shrug and send their next paper to an Elsevier journal π€·ββοΈ

Yes, I've definitely noticed this more and more recently.

I kept reading EMA studies claiming to test etiological theories of AUD, but I realized they never actually measured how people experience AUD in their daily lives. So we set out to see what we could learn with existing data.

I realise I'm just a freak, but living in a multicultural city is the best thing of all time, it's just the best possible human experience and i can not understand why anyone on earth would be like "weve got to destroy this"
New Stage 2 RR published in Clinical Psych Science: doi.org/10.1177/2167... contrary to what some claim, urgency DOES NOT moderate associations between affect and alcohol/cannabis use in EMA data. Take a look for a comprehensive test of this idea and let us know what you think!
hey European hivemind, I need some help...PhD students here, especially foreign ones, are feeling a lot of concern related to evolving immigration restrictions here. Those students are increasingly looking to postdocs in EU. To help advise them better, what are expectations for postdocs?

First, I want to extend my gratitude to all the people who have reached out from across the country and around the world to support our family. This kindness of strangers is the most fitting tribute because if you ever encountered my wife, Renee Nicole Macklin Good, you know that above all else, she was kind, In fact, kindness radiated out of her. Renee sparkled. She literally sparkled. I mean, she didn't wear glitter but I swear she had sparkles coming out of her pores. All the time. You might think it was just my love talking but her family said the same thing. Renee was made of sunshine, Renee lived by an overarching belief: there is kindness in the world and we need to do everything we can to find it Where it resides and nurture it where it needs to grow Renee was a Christian who knew that all religions teach the same essential truth: we are here to love each other, care for each other, and keep each other safe and whole. Like people have done across place and time, we moved to make a better life for ourselves. We chose Minnesota to make our home. Our whole extended road trip here, we held hands in the car while our son drew all over the windows to pass the time and the miles,
What we found when we got here was a vibrant and welcoming community, we made friends and spread joy: And while any place we were together was home, there was a strong shared sense here in Minneapolis that we were looking out for each other. Here, I had finally found peace and safe harbor. That has been taken from me forever. We were raising our son to believe that no matter where you come from or what you look like, all of us deserve compassion and kindness. Renee lived this belief every day. She is pure love. She is pure joy. She is pure sunshine On Wednesday, January 7th, we stopped to support our neighbors. We had whistles. They had guns. Renee leaves behind three extraordinary children; the youngest is just six years old and already lost his father. I am now left to raise our son and to continue teaching him, as Renee believed, that there are people building a better world for him. That the people who did this had fear and anger in their hearts, and we need to show them a better way. We thank you for the privacy you are granting our family as we grieve. We thank you for ensuring that Renee's legacy is one of kindness and love. We honor her memory by living her values: rejecting hate and choosing compassion, turning away from fear and pursuing peace, refusing division and knowing we must come together to build a world where we all come home safe to the people we love. Renee Macklin Good's wife, Becca Good, released a statement and it moved me to sobbing tears:

GERMAN PRESIDENT STEINMEIER:
β.. the United States has broken with the values that it helped to establish ..
β.. we have now moved beyond the stage where we can lament the lack of respect for international law or the erosion of the international order; we are far beyond that, I believe.β
Yes letβs do that, but I think itβs more likely that we learn from you than the other way around ;)
