Artaserse made me go "I need this to be at least a little historically accurate" when playing with the characters in my head and that got me to read the whole Persian history until the end of the Achaemenid Empire

I may be biased af but Artaserse does not receive the recognition it deserves like how is an opera that was put into music like 90 different times not considered important, and with composers like Hasse, Gluck and J. C. Bach and it got translated to English with Arne

Funny how Gluck criticized opera seria but his first opera was Artaserse
