The rise of end times fascism | Naomi Klein and Astra Taylor The governing ideology of the far right has become a monstrous, supremacist survivalism. Our task is to build a movement strong enough to stop them

This is it. This is the baseline assumption I think we should be working from.

"we are up against an ideology that has given up not only on the premise and promise of liberal democracy but on the livability of our shared world [...] The forces we are up against have made peace with mass death.

The arrest of Greta Thunberg for peacefully opposing genocide and supporting those on hunger strike is wrongful and disturbing.

This is yet another shocking example of the UK’s broad terrorism laws being used to target those exercising their right to freedom of expression and assembly rights.

The Filton 24 are political prisoners, interned without trial. 8 are on hunger strike, at risk of death. They are not getting a hearing or adequate care.

The British govt has done this before in Northern Ireland. It is again inhumane and a stain on the country.

I’ll never forget the horror of the Covid wards | The Observer

Powerful piece by @drrachelclarke.com on the COVID inquiry. Those who say it’s easy to be wise in hindsight are being utterly disingenuous. Many of us spoke out at the time, and it’s in the public record.

I am not a lawyer, just a historian, but one fundamental problem with the political debate about the EU, especially in English publications is that the whole principle of the acquis communnitaire is not understood or taken seriously. The EU is a framework of rules, not an alliance.

'I have long Covid, but some say it isn't real' Anita Widdowson says she battles with her symptoms every day, and is unable to work or study.

Good luck to Anita, but BBC reporting here that there is no international definition or agreed common symptoms is just wrong and perpetuates doubt and myths.

There is a WHO definition, and widely agreed pattern of common symptoms.

The Commission concludes that Palestinians who were physically and
mentally harmed by the Israeli security forces’ military operations will continue to
suffer from long-term harm of such a serious nature that they will no longer be able
to lead a normal and constructive life. For example, in relation to Palestinian
children, in June 2024, UNICEF stated that β€œalmost all of Gaza’s 1.2 million children
need mental health and psychosocial support”, especially those who were exposed
to repeated traumatic events, maimed, have lost parents and close family members,
and children with disabilities.177 According to a report published by War Child in
November 2024, almost half of 504 surveyed caregivers stated that their children
think they (the children) would die during the current war, and other children have
expressed their wish to die.178 Many Palestinians from Gaza told the Commission
that they live in extreme and constant fear for their safety since 7 October 2023.
Some of them said that their children could not think of anything but ways to survive
from being attacked daily.
