One of the kids has pretty heavy (and sometimes distressing) OCD and the other has probable (but subclinical) ADHD so I was really glad I got it figured out in time to recognize and respond helpfully

I will never check a paper planner, but my phone calendar, I'll see. I only allow notifications from texts and the calendar really.

And then I found a career that played to my strengths (editing!) and didn't really think about it much again until my late 30s

I had various social struggles and organizational difficulties but it really took seeing other people talk about doing things I did to realize they weren't everyone things.

When I was a kid we were focused on the noticeable TS tics and OCD habits. My grades were decent and I didn't disrupt class.

They can be very difficult to tell apart from inside!

Ironically the meds along with COVID-era Time Kompression made some of my old cobbled-together methods more difficult to maintain so I've ended up becoming genuinely more organized (calendars, alarms) to compensate when I would never remember to use them before.

literally me though; I didn't get on meds until I was 40, after a few years of seeing a lot of people posting about ADHD struggles that seemed awfully familiar despite thinking I outgrew it, along with the endless torrent of bad first-DT-term news finally flooding the banks of my coping strategies

I've seen some realllly striking uses of panels or art behaving inappropriately that can elevate the hell out of a scene. Especially when there are strange goings-on with time and space. Breaking those boundaries can be a really impactful tool.

I like it when this happens. Like in Farscape after a couple seasons the protagonists' exploits have begun to precede them.

ICE agents reveal daily arrest quotas and surveillance app in rare court testimony Under oath, officers said they were told to make eight arrests a day and given special tech to help choose β€˜targets’

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

It is very easy to read statements like this as a joke.

This is not a joke.

We have proven with AI, completely by accident, what knowledgeable people have been saying for decades: the environment that rich people live in gives them a very specific personality disorder.

Yeah we were up about the same a week ago when I decided to fill up a half-down tank before it got worse. Saw it over $6 in SF that day, lower where I live.

Polymarket, Kalshi and all the rest of these prediction markets need to be wiped off the face of the earth. They provide absolutely nothing of value and are corrupting everything they touch.
