Go to any social media (ok, not X, any functional social media) for any NHL team with a Team USA player and look at the comments. They are getting cooked alive out there. Admin just trying to post "road trip drip 🔥✈️" and act like the top reply isn't "fuck you" with 5,000 likes

Excellent point, I have a really bad habit of calling everyone "guys", I think it's the New Jersey in me.
It's not just the guys.
It's really not prudent to not understand that women's hockey has MANY of the same problems
A lot of folks have joined the discourse this week w/out one iota of context or history & are putting the women's team up like a foil to the men's. They're going to be disappointed
So I'll tell you what I told myself when I came back: We cannot change hockey culture from the outside. You have to be *in it* to change it.
And it is changing! It's slow, but there is so much more good these days than there was even 10 years ago. Find your community and stick with them.
Traditional hockey culture is toxic and disgusting, these guys will constantly let you down. I stepped away from the game for a few years following the Hockey Canada Five. It is so hard to cheer for people on the ice when you know what they think and do off of it.
"People are so negative out there and they are just trying to find a reason to put people down and make something out of almost nothing" - Jack Hughes who found a way to put people down by laughing at the thought of women being included in celebrations and thinks it was "almost" nothing.
