We've just watched a programme about wild pig species around the world. It included the adorable Pygmy hog ππ·!
Tell us in the comments below about a species you'd travel to see in the wild, or any you have travelled to see. We'd love to see photos, too! βΊοΈ

Loving the variety of fungi shooting up everywhere at the moment #fungi #autumn #biodiversity
"Ecologists are only just beginning to grasp the full threat that extreme heat poses to the worldβs wildlife populations, and how quickly it can drive species towards extinction.
...It has become a driver of biodiversity loss on a par with β or worse than β deforestation and habitat loss."
Some people would have freaked out with my experience the other night, but I loved the extended moment when my eyes met with my mouse bed invader, & it realised I wasn't going to hurt it. We were almost nose to nose when we looked at each other before I left it to trot away. #mouse #naturelover
There's nothing better than a happy dog β€οΈ
Another wildlife rescue π
Hopefully, now getting the appropriate care from SSPCA.

Today's unexpected surprise π
I got a call from an acquaintance whose dog had picked up a red squirrel kit. The dog dropped it on command, and she brought it to me for temporary care. A couple of messages later, and we were on our way to Polly Pullar's to get it proper care. Good luck, little one β€οΈ
Because even snails can be cute π

I witnessed a real-life wildlife rescue on Monday at Pinkstons Watersport Centre in Glasgow.
The emergency services were on site for a training session, which became real when I noticed a feral pigeon struggling in the rapids.
Well done to our emergency services π π π

I know not everyone likes gulls πͺ, but I thought this herring gull was very fetching and deserved a photo. #gulls #lovebirds #seaside

A visit to our local red squirrels yesterday afternoon with enough treats for all of them, but these two kept squabbling. Sound up to listen to their squeaks and squeals!

French cranesbill are popping up in grassy areas all around our village. They may be garden escapes, but they are providing lots of welcome colour and cover.

Successfully released and rejoined her roost-mates.
A lovely Marsh orchid at St Abbs head. #wildflowerhour

Our first rescue of the year! This little bat crashed a wedding last night and was taken to safety by the photographer. It took a while to convince it that mealworms were food, but it soon got the picture π #bat #rescue #rehabilitation
The highlight of our week βΊοΈ

Our good friend is moving on to start a new adventure with @manxbirdlife. Chris has been helping out behind the scenes, so we wanted to treat him to a seabird experience. Things didn't go to plan, but we still had a full day emerged in coastal nature. #seabirds #seabirdsunday #stabbsnaturereserve
This was a lovely surprise during our ecology survey this morning in a garden near Glasgow.
Living in a rural area which is dominated by game keepers, a fox sighting is a real rarity for us π¦ β€οΈ

It's so great living in this area of Perthshire with so many knowledgeable naturalists.
Yesterday's weekly woodland wander at the community woodlands in Comrie was superb!

I was delighted to find our first juvenile slow worm of the year today. We have been creating habitat for the species in various places around the garden and always look forward to seeing the youngsters.

Look what we caught on camera last night. A wee wood mouse getting a much needed drink of water.
Please think about your garden wildlife during this hot weather and provide them with some water π
It's World Bee Day!
Here's one I rescued earlier βΊοΈ
