I grew up in the bay area, born in 77, my first concert was at the local community college with Skankin’ Pickle, Voodoo Glow Skulls, and Nuclear Rabbit in probably 1990, ska and funk seemed to infuse itself into all of the weirdo bay area bands at the time. They were all so much fun to see live.
Skate videos were a big one for me, I’m pretty sure that’s how I found out about Fugazi in 89 or 90
