Isn’t it incredible that a converted house for a disabled child leading to a complex tax situation is considered remotely comparable to situations like an ex minister who consciously ran companies through overseas territories to reduce tax. The whole thing is absurd.

Hi Claire, wanted to say as a constituent I’m deeply unhappy with the direction of travel re encryption and gov policy. The very consistent view of experts in the field is it’ll have little impact on criminals but massive impacts on normal peoples data security. Do the right thing and change course

I’m really glad to have attended and I think this is a great thing you’re trying to do locally. As I joked about on the day though at national level it’s time to do something bold. I’ll leave this here:

Am I being really naive or is there a compromise where we build a new runway at Heathrow limited to electric or 100% sustainable aviation fuel only flights? If we’re talking 15 years+ to build the runway highly likely there will be electric planes capable of flights to many European cities

Did you get a chance to ask if we can speed up getting the stadium built?

@chazelgrovemp.bsky.social we shouldn’t need Martin Lewis to fix this. I can’t fathom why legislation allows some of the behaviours he’s fighting.

Great stuff Ed, actually analysis rather than hyperbole

Politics Joe had a YouTube video interviewing young Reform members. One guy articulately point out that if you earn 30k and take home 24k, assuming you buy an average house 267k you’ll probably pay 500k inc interest. 500k out of a total 40-year earnings of 960k, so way over half your earnings.

Hey Claire, I think it’s really important as part of this change it is clear where different responsibilities lie and for that information to be given to patients. For example if test results aren’t showing on the App who will be responsible and accountable for fixing it.

That’s a real tragedy. I’m a professional engineer with a degree and an apprenticeship got me here. Maybe a trade is the best option in the US. I suppose there could be trades around for example high power transmission lines where you could work up to a more academic/managerial role over time?

So this is a UK perspective but I wouldn’t recommend university anymore as we have fantastic apprenticeship opportunities and lots of employers are open to sharing the costs and time of working toward a degree part time. Income throughout, experience and no debt.

I certainly agree but I don’t want to have to do it daily. Think they may need to make it slightly harder to join

I am a little concerned by the sudden uptick in what appear to be Bot/Scam profiles appearing… hope it doesn’t start feeling like the other place

It’s interesting we don’t have consistent societal expectations. Recent changes to the Highway Code giving pedestrians more priority is a good example. We expect people to keep themselves up to date (even when the change is potentially deadly if not understood) but not pensions, why the difference?

Can we stop filling peoples timelines with repeated shares of the same stuff. I like your content but not enough to read/watch it twice. I get trying to get more views but as a viewer this may result in less not more

Great piece but really depressing just before Christmas, that said we need to face up to it.

19.12.2024 09:37 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I don’t understand the re share, there’s no new info…

17.12.2024 17:52 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

So say you’re right, I’m an engineer by both training and instinct. So what are your thoughts on cloud seeding or whitening, space mirrors, carbon capture etc?

17.12.2024 08:20 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I guess that’s true but it can definitely be given a hugely more positive spin. For example ICE vehicles certainly in Europe we’re seeing peak sales and we’re now seeing reverse economies of scale. Those tipping points may result in quite explosive growth

No need for that it’s easily done πŸ˜› That said even the same graph updated to 2024 would I think start to look quite different. I’ll see if I can find a similar graph but more up to date

Can you share the chart? Interested to see it

I’m not religious but from an outside perspective is there a credible way forward for the Church of England other than putting someone from outside the church in charge with a robust safeguarding background? It seems like it’s that or expect to be removed from House of Lords etc

Can you bring back the WhatsApp channel it seems to have been deleted. And I don’t suppose Octopus could develop an interface with my Growatt battery system so you can just take the power automatically when this happens? Happy to give permission…

I think this question is very badly framed and if framed differently people would answer the opposite. I don’t think anyone thinks it makes sense to pay the same to a producer adding a wind turbine in Scotland (over supplied) rather than in Bristol (under supplied)

13.12.2024 08:08 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

So this is certainly what constituents like me want, however, I must say I can’t see any value in the question whatsoever. Not quite as frustrating as similar questions at PMQs but can we just stop wasting parliamentary time on soft ball questions with no substance?

Everyone is getting their Spotify wrapped today but I’m increasingly sensing Spotify is starting to push some music more than others. Anyone else feel that there’s an increasing bias on what Spotify sends your way?

Watching β€˜Buy Now’ on Netflix and remembering why I decided I wasn’t going to buy new clothes (apart from underwear). It’s so easy to forget how insane current consumerism levels are. It doesn’t need to be this way.

What I think will come quite a long time before lab grown meat will be precision fermented milk protein which will replace dairy from cows, particularly in protein powders and ready meals etc. shame about some of the responses to your question it felt almost like X πŸ™

I’m still so utterly devastated about it. Seeing poll after poll clearly indicating people have changed their mind while having no major political party giving the people an option to rejoin feels like such a betrayal of the people.

6.8 million people voted conservative at the last election so clearly they, and lots of people who voted for other parties would want that from day one. Silly article and headline
