Counterpoint: The administration does not fear this because the administration cannot conceive of how any of this might happen, and even if it does, how any of it could affect them

Difficult to emphasize just how much a generation of kids has been taught that being dishonest, superficial, and narcissistic is the pathway to attention and therefore success

He has four things going for him:

He was born rich.

He is genuinely funny if one has a mean-spirited sense of humor.

Pathological narcissism is so disorienting to encounter that it confuses ordinary people.

Find your fun with the world's Raddest electric bikes.

I have the big RadWagon and adore it.

You’ll want a different model. These folks don’t make one quite so charming as the Faraday but they might get you close enough.

Seconded. The narrator is preposterously good.

There are also radio play productions available, but I think the straight narration is better.

US watching a movie where a vigilante’s entire family is wiped out: “Oh yeah, time for fucking vengeance, this dude will never stop. Get them!”

US watching Iran pick a Supreme Leader who just had his entire family wiped out: “This guy is plainly going to be reasonable and fold.”

New MacBook Pro costs roughly 8x as much as a MaxBook Neo, so that seems fair

Newsom saying that the time that as mayor he did the right thing, successfully led the country forward, and became a national figure in the process … was a mistake?

I've ridden a bike and driven in Copenhagen. Riding a bike is soooo rad. Mostly I just drove out of Copenhagen.

‘Margin Call’ is the other good film dramatizing the 2008 financial crisis, though it is not quite as good as ‘The Big Short’

‘Lord Of War’ is a very dark comedic satire about the global arms trade, if you want Nic Cage doing real acting

When I joined as the head engineer of the Torment Nexus project, it was to work on fascinating technical problems and make the world a better place along the way. I am appalled to discover that the Torment Nexus would be used this way and, now that my options have vested, will be leaving the project

one of my obsessions is that when the founders made the president "commander-in-chief" they pretty clearly meant that he was the operational commander of the military, not that he could unilaterally begin hostilities, but it hadn't really occurred to me that this was the mechanism behind the shift

The "e-bikes are cheating" trope is just "protected bike lanes are unnecessary because I rode all over the place without them" for a new era: A mix of gatekeeping and survivorship bias that allows the person invoking it to defend their perceived status.
