"I suppose you’ve come to say you’re sorry? I hope so, given your years of sneering and hand-wringing about how I was ruining knowledge. Meanwhile, you turned your information environment into a hypercapitalist post-truth digital snuff film."
Listen, everyone is going to put their heads down on their desks and close their eyes, and whoever broke this timeline can fix it, no questions asked.

I encourage my colleagues in higher ed to memorize the law about recording your state (e.g., is it a two-party consent state?) and to have a clear policy about recording written into your syllabus. The right knows this is an avenue of attack and has legalized video bounties in FL and TX.
I considered writing a long carefully constructed argument laying out the harms and limitations of AI, but instead I wrote about being a hater. Only humans can be haters.
We need to stop using a framework of 'ChatGPT killed someone', it feeds into the myth of the system's agency & OpenAI's framing. The right framework to use: OpenAI is continuing to perpetuate an indefinite industrial disaster. The oil pipe is not at fault when it breaks. The company that built it is
James Dobson won’t see your posts celebrating his death. But you know who will? Everybody that ever loved him or respected him.

Look, if cranberries can be weird and bitter and still liked by roughly half the people at Thanksgiving dinner, then so can you!
Art drawn by people who very rarely make art and think they are “bad at art” is 1000x cooler than AI art. It’s life-affirming. It’s often unexpected. I cannot overemphasize how much I love when people just go for it. You do not need the machine for this human endeavor.
