Thank you π
Very pleased to see Small Brindled beauty in my S.Yorkshire garden trap last night, under a mature Oak. A moth I have been hoping to see for a while now. Hopefully this moth's fortunes are on the up and its distribution and numbers will continue to increase in the county. #TeamMoth
Aelia acuminata, Bishop's Mitre Shieldbug, found under a plank of wood in our S.Yorkshire garden today. My first of 2026. #Shieldbug
Still lots of Moths around despite the spells of wind and rain. 25 species in our #Yorkshire garden last night including 7 Scarce Umber. What a year they're having! I normally see 1 or 2 a year. Some late Moths too. #teammoth
14 December Moths from our #Yorkshire garden last night, including a few females. #teammoth
28 species in our garden last night. A real mixed bag, some common migrants and some species hanging on late in the year. S.Yorks. #teammoth
Despite the heavy rain, 23 species to light in our Yorkshire garden last night, so not a total washout. Some common migrants and some late second generation Moths. #teammoth
Musotima nitidalis from our S.Yorks garden last night. #teammoth
I get several each year but itβs always nice to see the first of the year.
Mottled Umber and Diurnea lipsiella were new for year in our #Yorkshire garden last night. Migrants were another two Dark Sword-grass. #teammoth
The first December Moth from our S.Yorkshire garden last night. #teammoth
Golden Twin-spot was new for our S.Yorks garden last night. #teammoth @migrantmothuk.bsky.social
A cooler night and much reduced catch in our S.Yorks garden, and more of the same. Yet another Scarce Bordered Straw, more Merveille du Jour and some very fresh White-point. #TeamMoth
Cyathus olla, Field Bird's Nest Fungi, has sprung up in our garden again. Amazing to see these tiny fruiting bodies which resemble a bird's nest complete with eggs. #fungi #BirdsNestFungi #Yorkshire
Just potted one off the outside of my trap!
Hope they were good ones! Mild and still here. I thought it might be a good night.
507 of 57 species in our S.Yorks garden last night. There was a significant influx of White-point along with other common migrants. Merveille du Jour is having a good year with numbers building all the time. Also a few late/second generations. #TeamMoth @bcyorkshire.bsky.social
They donβt seem to be attracted to light as strongly as males, but Iβve had a few in the trap over the years.
Some pristine Merveille du Jour from our S.Yorks garden last night. Possible migrants were Scarce Bordered Straw, White-point and Rush Veneer. Female Feathered Thorns don't come to light too often, so it was nice to see one amongst the males. #TeamMoth @bcyorkshire.bsky.social
Iβve searched so many sites for a few years. It had become a personal mission. Iβve been driving my husband crazy looking at Sorrel everywhere we go. Heβs walked off and left me on several occasions, like the fungi group did on this occasion. This time it paid off. Keep looking!
Thanks Andy, itβs a spectacular mine and stood out so much more on the larger Common Sorrel leaf than on the Sheepβs Sorrel Iβve found it on previously. Good luck in your search.
Well Iβve certainly looked, but quite possibly.
Glad I spent so much time looking at Sorrel while everyone else was looking at fungi π
Thanks, It was a relief! I've spent hundreds of hours looking at Sorrel!
Finally managed to find Enteucha acetosae in Yorkshire, after a few years searching. Six clear mines on this Common Sorrel leaf. First for Yorkshire. #TeamMoth @bcyorkshire.bsky.social
The best from our garden last night. A lovely pink Vestal, Clifden Nonpareil, Dewick's Plusia and Merveille du Jour. S.Yorkshire. #TeamMoth @bcyorkshire.bsky.social
Still getting Yellow-tails in the garden. Also a nicely marked Deep-brown Dart, Streak and Brick VC63 #TeamMoth @bcyorkshire.bsky.social
5 Merveille du Jour from our S.Yorks garden last night along with 4 Dewickβs Plusia,(1 to light, 1 to SBB Lure and 2 to Ni Moth lure). Also White-point, Rush Veneer and Rusty Dot Pearl. #TeamMoth @bcyorkshire.bsky.social
A few from our S.Yorks. garden last night. Dewick's Plusia was attracted to the Ni Moth lure. #TeamMoth @bcyorkshire.bsky.social
