This week a bunch of people have been giving maximum effort in putting the dense in estadounidense.
We have no official language designated by federal law or the US Constitution, despite the president’s executive order № 14224.
Is it “American” to want to force assimilation? People have the right to free speech and a right of association.
This country has a long history of non-English songs (many in Spanish) achieving widespread popularity, including “Volare,” “Gangnam Style,” “Rock Me Amadeus,” “Feliz Navidad,” “Dominique,” “Sukiyaki,” “Guantanamera,” “La Bamba” “99 Luftballons” plus the bilingual “Rico Suave” & “The Ketchup Song.”
I listen to plenty of Spanish, Israeli, Japanese and Brazilian music and I don’t get every word, but that doesn’t prevent my enjoyment.
Bad Bunny has had 13 top 10 songs over the past seven or so years and has now performed at two Super Bowls. Is it music I normally listen to? No, but obviously a lot of people are in to it and most Super Bowl halftime shows have had music I’m not into. 🧵

A 1957 Christmas ad promoting musical instruments for sale at Minns of Bournemouth, where the guitar was originally purchased.
Adjusted for inflation, £4 would now be about £82. The ad was later run in the correct section (pic № 2) where you will also see an ad from Fripp’s guitar teacher Don Strike with stringed instruments for sale ( and repair), in the same section.
An ad for a used guitar is curiously placed in the middle of ad for nurses in the Bournemouth Daily Echo in December 1958.
Twelve-year-old Robert Fripp of Wimborne Minster, UK is selling his very first guitar, an Egmond Frères, a Christmas gift from the previous year.
