The Anthropic versus Pentagon conflict is at least three questions which the media skipped asking
1. Should a computer be able to kill people?
2. What’s an acceptable error rate for that computer given LLMs 5% hallucination rate?
3. Can the government force you to sell them your tech to kill?
War is not a morality play.
The relevant question isn’t: Are the targets bad people who have done bad things?
The relevant question is: Will going to war make things better, achieving something that’s worth the death and suffering it causes?
Not clear that the Trump administration could make any promise to Iranian regime credible - and if a deal requires Iran to give something up, the regime will need to believe that whatever promise has been made in return (even if it’s just an end to air strikes) is credible
“if you won’t let us use your product to spy on Americans and kill without supervision we will single-handedly destroy your business by fiat” is the single most authoritarian anti-business action I can ever remember any administration taking

It’s wild how often I wonder how Jerry Moran justifies his inaction and support for POTUS to himself and his family. But maybe his grandkids are the people who watch video of ICE murdering Renee Good (or the man this morning) and laugh that they “got what was coming to them.”
Watching these videos of ICE attacking children, I can’t help but think about how many of these men first practiced their violence in their own homes.

Impeachment and removal at this late stage might avoid calamity, but we definitely aren’t going to get away without significant consequences.

The most frustrating thing about being a Moran constituent is that I think he does recognize how dangerously incompetent and corrupt potus is. But at age 71, with 3 decades in Congress, he’s too chickenshit to do anything but issue the occasionally bland statement.

Renee Good’s blood is on the hands of every member of Congress who refuses to vote to impeach and convict Trump. As is the blood of the women who bleed out for lack of reproductive care, the children dying of preventable diseases, the fishermen killed in the Caribbean by U.S. forces, and many more.

The president of the United States just called a U.S. attack he authorized “an attack on sovereignty”. It was at the very end of his speech if you missed it.
Wonder what it would be like to be represented by Senators who care enough about the future of this country that this clearly illegal act of war would lead them to support impeachment? With Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall as my Senators, I’m not especially hopeful that I’ll find out soon.
Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.
Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
