Rhetorical question: As I type here I watch Big Bang Theory on TV. There is a certain level where the term “nerd” is no longer a term
of derision. Shouldn’t I be watching a game? Football? Basketball? Golf, for some reason? I am not really concerned but I remain puzzled by life often.

The one exception was a braggart the all the kids knew to be a perpetual liar. He had stories but nobody believed him or his stories. It taught me to honor Truth and to be indignant about Social braggarts.

I am old . I sometimes get my stories mixed up. It was my wife’s uncle who was killed on Saipan. My Great Aunt’s son was starved to death in as a Japanese POW. I heard many WWII stories because I listened very carefully. They were rarely ever mentioned. They all wanted to forget.

I had an older friend who had served in the Navy. The jungles in the Army were certainly not anything I wanted to do. The USN was worth a 4 year hitch for me. I have never regretted my decision. Crazy times then. Crazy times now too.
