having bad memory as a writer is so efficient "you need fresh eyes on your manuscript" babe I am the fresh eyes, I've never seen this in my life
my eldest continues to be a sniper shot, sending me this apropos of nothing in order to scalp me
so happy to be here! π₯°
I know I've been quiet for a bit, but that's because I've been busy. And now I have good news!
Very happy to announce that I'm now represented by @keiralekseii.bsky.social at Azantian Literary! Looking forward to adding more color to publishing together π₯°

Reworked a piece I did 6 years ago and kinda stunned myself with the difference. I am not the same artist I was in 2019.

I think I've studied too much history at this point to read anything about MCs in the nobility.
An MC okay with the concept of the aristocracy β
Putting our bodies upon the gears of the machine in violent revolution against the wealthy elite β
Anyone else need to make detailed outlines, spreadsheets, and world notes for their books before they write a word? Or are you, like, a normal plotter?
(Pantsers, you baffle and terrify me. How do you just...write????)

St. John rests his head atop Agnes and Irene in a portrait sepia-colored like a vintage photo. All the eyes are looking at the viewer, and a trickle of blood leaves a corner of Agnes' mouth.
Loved drawing this project for @smhallow.bsky.social. So excited for The Halls of the Dead. Really wanted to capture the softness of an antique portrait and the unsettling nature of finding something you maybe shouldn't have in your attic.

This is your friendly reminder that you SHOULD be at least a little in love with your writing. And if you're not, maybe analyze what's bothering you about it, so you can fix it and love it again.
Querying is going very differently than it did a few years ago. I've gotten manuscript requests without being told that I'm too Asian or gay, so that's... new. Um... I think I should be excited???
I never know what to suggest to authors who don't know how to write kids well. Hang around a park to observe children? Go to a daycare and watch them? You'd be in handcuffs by lunchtime.
There's something deeply affirming about being the female breadwinner in my house, just as my mother was before me. My grandmother wasn't able to have her own bank account until she was almost 30, and now I get to support her, too π₯°
That's all right. I'll argue enough for everyone π

Due to a scheduling error, Monday's crash out has been moved to today. Right now.
The first time I ever queried back in 2016, I got an unprecedented amount of "too queer, too Asian, too foreign, too exotic" and other microagressions, and I know that the attitudes in publishing have changed now (I hope, anyway).
Does anyone have any queer and BIPOC friendly agent suggestions?
Truly, I never started writing more than when I realized that my blocks to writing weren't an issue of creativity, but circumstance (e.g. eating enough, sleeping enough, burn out, almost dying in pregnancy). Maybe you're not a failure. Maybe you just need a sandwich and a nap... and healthcare.
It's still in production unfortunately. Tentative release in Fall.
Not Your Name A different kind of Persephone story Persephone is glitched, and around the name are other glitched names: Osiris, Dumuzid, Ariadne, MaΓ±ana The backdrop features a skull dissolving into leaves
Hello! I'm Tyeza, a Southeast Asian author and occasional voice actor. I write primarily queer SFF, with a dash of horror ππ
My cosmic horror narrative podcast, Not Your Name, features a retelling of Persephone, but also Dumuzid & Ereshkigal, Baldr's Descent to Hel, and many, many more.
A four-panel comic meme about an explorer finding the 'Scroll of Truth'. They open up the scroll in the third panel to find that it says, "you need to write your book", and quickly throw it away in the fourth panel.

Going to dust off this high fantasy sapphic WIP about dismantling systems of oppression...for no reason.
So while King Cheeto is in office, I'm going to be focusing on supporting and seeking support among fellow queer and POC folk. Community is everything right now.
I don't know how y'all manage two pen name accounts, but I'm supposed to be "clean" here or something. Just don't look too closely at how steamy my non-explicit scenes are.
Everyone in my house is sick, so congee tonight it is.
A tweet from user @northstardoll that reads: being self aware and still repeating self destructive patterns. An image of a sunrise accompanied it. The silhouette of a person accompanied it. They have fists raised with chains attaching them.
Very demure, very mindful.
Guess who has two thumbs and made the shortlist!

I cannot impress this enough. If you write fantasy or sci-fi, you need to look at your own cultural biases and attitudes before you write about others. It will not only improve your world-building tenfold, but it will prevent you from writing damaging stereotypes.
Tumblr post from deactivated user radgepacket. It reads: parents got a new cat they named lord montague and this morning i heard my dad in the other room say "i would have to advise against that decision, my lord" followed by a crashing sound
Hold on. Getting a cat.
