Thrilled to present my PhD research at the NET Models Meeting 2025! π€ My talk: Investigating the molecular mechanism of Groucho protein function in Drosophila melanogaster πͺ° Grateful for the chance to follow my mentorβs path and presentation in showing how fruit flies can advance cancer research. π‘
Anyone coming to #EDRC2025 ? See you in Alicante! π Don't forget to stop by my poster!!
URGENT: FlyBase has lost practically all its funding overnight; even user fees are tied up in denied grant funding. π€¬π€―

This incredible community, on whose backs our #Drosophila labs depend, can't be left out to dry.
Huge thanks to @gensocuk.bsky.social for the amazing conference and awardi g me with a travel grantβand to all the brilliant researchers. Science thrives on community, and this was the perfect reminder. π

Sessions on enhancer-promoter communication and phase separation were especially exciting, and it was amazing to attend a conference with my supervisor!
Just returned from #Epigenetics2025 in Belfast and still buzzing from the experience! β¨
I presented my research on Gro protein function in Drosophila (including a 1-minute pitch challengeβwhat a rush!), and came away with invaluable feedback and lots of inspiration for future experiments.
This workshop is one of my highlights in my PhD journey! I highly recommend any Drosophila early career researcher!!! πͺ°π©·

Past ten years I spent in higher education showed me people in academia are being asked to do more and more outside of their expertise. We are scientists, but also editors, authors, graphic designers, social media advocates, public engagement officers, web designers, and so on...
Happy #ValentinesDay to all of our beloved developmental biologists from the ISDB team. Here is a heart made out of some migrating immune cells. It's only right that they are in pink. Do you spot another heart somewhere in the photo? π π
