2/ ED staff get so much criticism, so rarely get thanks - a little effort and a few quid made them feel appreciated ☺️🙏🏻.

1/ Today I took some thank-you cards and chocs for the staff at the hospital where my aunt was admitted for emergency surgery last week. I took some into the ED, one of the nurses did a little happy dance ❤️ and said I’d made her day - well, she made mine.

I’m not convinced it will make any difference with public understanding - most don’t know the difference between a radiologist and a radiographer. There’s no reason why we couldn’t campaign for both anaesthetist and anaesthesiologist to be protected in law.

Busy few days here in the #Falklandislands - when you’re the sole anaesthetist/intensivist, it doesn’t take much extra OOH work to add up! Satisfying, though, and pleased with the initial response for our recent assurance visit

To be fair, the kids and dogs don’t have to drive in it. It is beautiful, though.

Did one of these today for foot surgery on a lovely but very frail patient. Lateral, but partly as she can’t lie on her back. She, the surgeon and the theatre staff were amazed and delighted at how well it worked and how little it hurt doing the block - fave block indeed! ❤️
