I think they'll end up holding him until he either turns it around or doesn't and becomes unreadable tbh. Because I don't imagine people are gonna offer a real return unless there retention and and cannot imagine they'd retain much if any.

Yup. But they need to take some big chances here. Nobody is giving away players that don't have flaws.
Leafs need to make some huge high risk swings this summer. Take on deals with big upside but also downside (since they aren't flush with assets). Either it works, or it doesn't and you're rebuilding so who cares.
Skinner and Vanacek will be I bet. And neither have had nearly the highs that Stolarz has. Mrazek is a corpse now, no? Is he even gonna get another deal?
Who are the cheaper ones in that tier though. Even tandem guys are making money at this point.
If Hildeby didn't need waivers, I'd be pushing to keep him tbh. I think the Leafs gotta take some big swings on D then fire Berube and the goaltending will look much better.
His number over the last ~5 years are better than that. $3.75M on a $104M cap is a plus, not a minus imo.

I imagine he does. Cheap deal. When he's on he's really on. Somebody would want him as a tandem. I think people are largely under rating the quality of the Leafs players ATM imo.

If there's a big bet on d, I'd do that too. I don't think goaltending is an issue. I think their defense and Berube made it look bad.
I imagine they'd say the same of Rielly. I don't think Vancouver moves Pettersen for nothing. They already suck so no point.
